Actually LJN was their own thing, at least so I think, and then they were bought by Universal. In fact, BTTF2 had a scene where two NES games, one being LJN's Jaws, were seen at the window of a pawn shop, boxed no less. LJN then becme a subsidiary of Acclaim later in the future. The old "Enteractive Video Games" boxes were when LJN was independent. Acclaim era LJN games also had their boards printed by Acclaim themselves, who was one of only three publishers to produce their own NES carts.

If this is anything like the Gameboy version then GOAT as fuck. It was a minigamefest but the minigames were great fun other than the spaceship level I tended to suck at and had fucking nothing to do with the theme of the game other than you'd crash the ship into a target instead of landing it.

Also loved you got fucking piss poor payment for the levels, even for doing well. 5 bux for crashing a car after driving through chaos? Why of course.

Technically LJN is and has always been only an publisher that hasn't made a single game themselves and most of the "LJN games" were actually developed by Beam Software, Software Creations, Atlus (yes, THAT Atlus) and Rare (yes, THAT Rare).

This actually got me thinking: LJN has gotten a quite a reputation especially after AVGN's videos and Enix (another publisher that has developed little to no games themselves) has also quite reputation but in this case a positive one. Are there any other publishers that are highly praised or critizized due to the games they have published but not developed?

You know how US movie stars make weird commercials in Japan because they want easy money? I think some of these are like that, especially with Jaws and Ft13th, since not only were they licensed games based on Western movies, they were also probably never intended to be released in the home country on the development team. Like their secret shame or something.

For some reason I would be intrigued to find a Famicom sample cart of some of these games, just to see if there were ever any ideas in the development process that were abandoned because fuck it let's do this quick and easy.

I cannot seem to find the game on any wiki or some shit. I played this one platformer on the Super Nintendo for the /vr/ Gauntlet which was kind of like a platforming Harry Potter where you shoot balls of magic at enemies and complete puzzles. I got stuck on one area for like an hour, mind you this was only a single small room i could see in entirety on one screen and not a single video or documentation existed that far into the game. Anyways I found it to be very fun, wish I knew the name.

The same company doesn't necessarily imply the same staff. As far as Kabuki Quantum Fighter goes, it's possible they had netted a young and talented development team, or it was just a weird coincidence (the game is good and novel, but not great).

Harvest Moon for the SNES, while loaded with charm, is definitely a glitchy mess.
