I play Fox and Falcon against anything that isn't Kirby.

If someone uses that pink fuck, I usually play Yoshi so I don't get spiked instantly with Kirby's broke ass D-Air. Also the egg game is nuts.

Nowdays I got pretty good with Ness. Though I can still pull off good Link or Falcon games.

I played Link in most Smash games thinking he had a good balance of close, mid, and ranged attacks. Apparently I've been told he sucks ass, but I do well with him because his fat ass his hard to toss.

Pikachu has broken throws and is strong as hell.

Kirby can gimp foes easily with his Down Air and has the strongest up-tilt in the game.
Fox can also gimp foes easily and has the speed to back up a lot of 0 to death combos.

Falcon is the easiest player to play and succeed as. He also has a spike, Falcon Punch, and huge priority with his Up+B.
Mario is also easy to play as and has one of the easiest to spam (and hit with) projectiles other than Fox/Pika. Makes it very easy to zone characters into some combos.

Yoshi can deal some great damage but suffers from not being able to attack out of shield. He also has recovery troubles; with the one exception being his super armor during his double jump. Yoshi is also a character that can Double-Jump Cancel into attacks, meaning you can do some crazy shit with the right amount of practice.
DK is pretty average. Seriously, that's about it for the big ape. Average.
Jigglypuff is great but lacks any real priority. It's also really easy to play a Jiggs, though. If you can get into her bread-n-butter drill-to-up-tilt-to-rest combos, you're set.
Ness is the other Double Jump Cancelable character, which can make for some really cool shit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V69OytR77JY But pulling Ness tech can be a pain in the ass, definitely the hardest character to play at competition level.

Link's main bad rap is his recovery. His Up+B does hardly anything. His other moves aren't that impressive and all have a bit of start up lag.
Luigi in 64 is a worse Mario. His dash attack usually gets you into bad situations more than good. The sliding and high jumps can screw you over in a game where stun lock combos is important
Samus's main flaw is that she has no match ups where she's at an advantage.

Pikachu is the best by far. I always used Mario though. Only SSB game where he's actually good.
