>It's better to practice in a scenario
Well, I pretty much just said "git good" there. What I really mean is that you don't really get a feel for how a block section coaster will process guests until it actually gets guest action. You might have a coaster that runs efficiently, and no trains stop at any blocks, but as soon as guests ride it, it comes to a screeching halt.

>> No.2206205

>>2206195
That should only be a problem if you dont budget guest loading time properly, no?

ive no problem being told to git gud, thats part of the fun!

thats a very good point though. i hadnt considered actual guest loading and all that

farther down the rabbit hole i go!

>> No.2206221

>>2206205
Well, it's unpredictable. You have to factor in loading time when deciding the minimum/maximum wait times. For example, I personally hate seeing trains stop at the top of a lift hill, so sometimes I increase the minimum wait time just so that never happens. I could also make the first block after the lift shorter, so that one train will clear the first block brake before the next train reaches the top of the lift hill.
But if you mess up the maximum wait time, you could have a train waiting at the station while multiple trains behind it sit waiting to unload guests... guests that would willingly go on the ride again, if they could get off the damn thing.
So station/ride efficiency takes a little bit of work to figure out. It's not that big of a deal if it's not perfect, but you do make more money if the ride is constantly running properly.

>> No.2206291

The best way to build coasters is during the scenario, because then you can customize it to the environment and make tunnels and stuff.

Nah, I'm different. Call it insecurity, but I've built countless of non-looping hypers and gigas with boring, hill after hill, roundabout model-styles that always yield the same ratio of E-I-N. It's because of the inclusion of glossy smoothed-out hills that are in RCT2 that I think of them as "broken" or "OP" since it's particularly lighter on G-forces. In RCT, you could get away with this with the standard bottoms and peaks, which I sometimes smoothed out like here >>2208801. It's frustrating that most other coasters were left of this feature.

Also, you reminded me of these completely fake cheats:
Hire Einstein
>To extend your research by leaps and bounds, find Guest #1 and rename him "E=MC2". Then find guest #2 and rename him "E=MC3". The two will meet and begin brainstorming. Shortly thereafter they will ask to be hired on as the park's research developers. Say "yes" and pour your resources into the think tank. The following year, research and development will have grown by leaps and bounds. You will have all of the latest rides and nearly a billion dollars to spend!

Receive A One Million Dollar Gift

here's the system I had worked out, keep in mind this was for /b/, we would have to adjust for slower boards.

I would try and keep the game running in real time as much as possible, and only pause to screenshot/post updates (obviously would not work on a slow board). I found the best ratio for gets to keep the game moving was to use a block of 10 numbers, i.e. tens or twenties. As far as /b/ goes people actually got pretty creative, at one point I had pic related, a swasticoaster with the Happy Reich Time vandal rehabilitation center in the middle. i had tons of fun doing this and would love to try it out again with some of you guys.

There aren't really any mods for Rct, but there are trainers. 8cars is the most popular one and that edits the game in ways you wouldn't be able to with vanilla, but you don't need to have it downloaded to be able to open those parks. The only thing preventing you from opening it would be if there were custom rides that you haven't downloaded. Custom scenery is automatically downloaded from the park file itself but iirc you need to manually download and tranfer over custom rides. I haven't opened the collab map so I'm not sure if they're using custom rides.

I like that double corkscrew + half loop element.

Also pretty neat how the entrance to the maze comes out of the ground.

The tedium was not in vain. Good. I have an idea for a scenario that will just use the alcove, but I'll make a freebuild if people want the island.

>>2251392
It's intentionally small. Still, the whole island plus a bit over water ought to allow for several moderately sized coasters.
