Anyone remember this game? It was massively overshadowed first by HoMM3 that was released in the same year and later by the sequel that did more of the same but better, but I still find myself playing Sacred Land often. It has absolutely incredible character art and a dark fantasy atmosphere that I feel wasn't quite surpassed by anything ever since, and is simply very fun to play.

To those unfamiliar with it, Disciples: Sacred Lands is a mix between HoMM, a party RPG and Pokemon I guess. You still get to develop cities and towns and hire heroes, but instead of armies of thousands you get parties of maximum six, and your units gain experience along with your heroes and evolve into superior forms along multiple evolution paths.

You can get it on Steam or GOG.com right now, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. It's not as deep, balanced or suited for MP as HoMM, but is really really fun.
