One of the best handheld RPGs ever, not to mention one of the best licensed games ever. I'll never forget the day I got it for my GBC and expected a bunch of shitty minigames or something but instead got a fun, quirky RPG I then sunk hundreds of hours into. Looking back at it, it's kinda primitive and easy as shit, but still very impressive for a licensed game.

Someone could just rip the assets and make new games.

One big RPG Harry Potter game with the GBC (or even the Prisoner of Azakaban GBA) assets that lets you play through all seven years would be badass, but I don't think anybody would be willing to spend so much time on something like that.

>> No.2195956

I think everyone was surprised at how good this game was ,i later had the gameboy advance one which was shit.

>> No.2196018

Is this an RPG? I like HP, so might as well give it a try.

>> No.2196020

>>2196018
Yes, it's a turn-based JRPG, with levels and stats and equipment and everything. You only control HP in the first game, but have party members with different special skills in the second one. You use spells like Flipendo in battle, which grow in power as you use them, as well as combinations of Famous Wizards and Witches cards you find in chocolate frogs and secret places, used to unleash more powerful and unique effects. It's pretty fun.

>>2196020
Niiiice. Will download it. Also, it reminded me of an old Garfield JRPG for old cellphones IIRC. Anyone ever played it? It might have been just a reskin, but it seemed like a legit Garfield game.

Yeah it's a cool little RPG, and it follows the book rather than the movie. You fight with spells, level up, equip quidditch gear, use frog cards combos for super spells and there's no random combat. There's also a Chamber of Secrets GBC RPG that's really neat too and boasts imo one the best graphics on the system. Prisoner of Azkaban for the GBA is the last in the "series" of Harry Potter RPGs.

>>2195956
GBA Philosopher's Stone wasn't as good as the GBC game, but I thought it was a fun if mediocre effort. GBA Chamber of Secrets was shit though.

I remember it! Oh god, Anon, I think I love you. Been ages since I've played it, but I think it hooked me up for a while. I don't remember anything about it, do you have any info on it? What was it called?

Here, found it. I think it's this one. I wish I could make a java emulator work on my android cell phone, I wish I could play this and Doom RPG.

I'm with you. I see people defend that game on /v/, but it is truly shit. The way harry would plant his ass for 2 seconds to shoot a flipendo was enough to ruin the game for me

There were a few HP GBA games, which ones are you talking about? There were the generic isometric action-adventure ones, which were utter shit in comparison, and the Prisoner of Azkaban JRPG one, which I've found a decent spiritual successor, though I've never had it myself and only got so far in emulation.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:
There's 7 (technically 6 I guess) artifacts they need to find and destroy before they fight Voldemort.
They travel around Europe searching for them.
Deatheaters are everywhere, so they travel through woods and backroads.

How the hell did this never get made into a classic RPG?

Music was so good too.

IMO these were two of the best gameboy games made. For some reason I like the first slightly better than the second, even though the second is objectively better by almost every standard. Both are awesome though and I have so many childhood feels when I think of them. PSX games were good too.

It would be pretty easy with something like game maker to do a pc version. Still time consuming and you couldn't play it on any portable hardware

>> No.2201139

I honestly forgot how fun this game was until I saw this thread.

I have it with my games but haven't played it in years because I always associate Harry Potter games with the shitty movie adaptions and now I really want to replay this plus play the Chamber of Secrets one for the GBC.

Few know or even noticed while playing, but the theme exists as orchestrated in the PC version as well and plays during the descent of the Chamber itself before meeting the basilisk.
