Any noticeable performance difference between the model 1 and 2 Sega CDs?

Nope. Model 1, 2, and CDX are the same or near indistinguishable performance wise. Durability though you want anything but the model 1.

X'Eye doesn't use a battery unlike the others for the saves.

The Model 1 stack is quite possibly the most beautiful of all retro consoles - but their performance are equally unreliable.

Less moving parts when you only have a mechanical hinge. Disc drive eject motors love to fail. But the Model 2 is FAR sexier, not lastly thanks to the Model 1 Mega Drive it sits under.

Also I think the Model 2 Mega Drive won't work with the Model 1 CD, but the Model 2 CD will work with the Model 1 Mega Drive, and create an even bigger battleship in the process.

Model 2 SCD is more reliable, and outputs stereo from the MD end without requiring to touch the headphone jack.
