when organizing your games alphabetically does final fantasy ix technically come before final fantasy vii?

For games of the same name I take some liberties.

For my PS1 final fantasy section it goes in chronological order. Final Fantasy Origins, Final Fantasy Chronicles, FF7,FF8,FF9, Tactics. I do the same thing with Megaman. X4-6, Legends1-2 and Tron Bonne all in a section because if I think of a megaman game thats where I'm going to look.

Having your shelf go FF9, ff7 ff8 would look fucking dumb and be counter-intuitive.

No.

Alphabetical titles, but chronological series.

>> No.2174086

No because in this case IX isn't referring to a word/letter but a number.

IX doesn't ever preceed VIII, even "technically." Numerals in any system have a set order no matter which system you're using.

But Tactics was released before FF8.

This is the only way.

If you're going down that rabbit hole, you might as well say that 10 through 19 come before 2. You know, like old computers did before they fixed it to make sense.
