Its a pretty basic SRPG, with a working designs translation (see: so far up its own ass on how great Working Designs is) with animated combat sequences that look like something from an old school arcade.

A solid SRPG with multiple branching paths and story lines. Also giant robots. No actual bandits though.

Just an FYI it's on PSN as a PSone classic. Probably for less than you payed for it.

It's a good game and you should enjoy it. Im just saying I hope you got a complete copy is all

F yea. Im not sure if discount drug mart is just an Ohio thing. But they are way behind the times. Thats were I score all my ps1 and gamecube games in there used game section in there fake little video store. So if your ever in Ohio and you see one its worth a look over. Games usually anywhere from .99cents to $5

OP get ready to enjoy some classic examples of Working Designs "jokes".

YES. I love Vanguard Bandits because its a great mindless trpg with no "grinding". I am currently playing it also trying to finish it this time. The game has multiple endings and story arcs that are fun for a second playthrough. Game is very cheesy 90's anime and dumb at times but I like it.

I recommend reading guides for it online.

Basically when you level up and get skill points its very important what stats you increase because you will get better attacks and abilities. The game gets extremely difficult in the later missions and if you dont have a strong party you will be fucked and have to restart the game (similar to FFT).

Just in my experience. The first time I played the game I didnt use a guide. When I got to this mission with all the Sharking ATACs I got my ass handed to me and had to restart the game. Now I keep multiple save files for this reason.

I dont mind the wacky jokes much. I have played a lot of WD games and they are fun for me but sometimes they add a little too much "personality". I think some people would rather have the translations be more faithful. WD is also fun to hate on. This unused joke is pretty riDICKulous haha get it.

Personally I prefer Vandal Hearts, mainly for the higher difficulty and combat system. Also the story in Vandal Hearts 2 I thought was on point and just as good as FFT.

Vanguard Bandits is fine in its own right and I do enjoy and have a nice nostalgic feeling towards all of the Working Designs releases, they were one of the only companies at the time bringing over lesser known japanese games.
