What game are you currently playing for the first time ever?

I'm actually about to start Echo Night. I've heard its very atmospheric and creepy. Hoping that's true, cause I'm really in the mood for something unsettling and creepy.

Parasite Eve. I started it before the holiday and plan on marathoning the rest before I go back to work. Great game, I have no idea why I never gave it a shot before. It's got some of my favorite PS1 prerendered backgrounds so far too.

>>2145946
Yeah, it's a neat game, definitely pretty spooky if you can make yourself get into it. I kinda stopped at the beginning, the tension of running from a constant pursuer was fun but once I saw it I couldn't keep myself hyped up.

Hybrid Heaven.
Odd N64 game I've never, ever heard about with really interesting mechanics (although the attacks out of battle are pretty awful due to you having to stand still, they're slow, and hard to aim.)
The main character's design is questionable, but I like the enemies.
The gameplay isn't bad either, but I've only just begun the game.

being one of the few konami exclusives on the system i'm always hearing abut it, check out winback and mystical ninja too

Winback is one of my favorite N64 games. Great TPS that doesn't get near enough love that it should.

Never heard of Winback, but I'll check it out. I really like modern TPS games. I don't recall ever seeing it at game stores (although I easily could have overlooked it.)
Is it rare or anything? I could just emulate it I'm sure, but I have an large backlog of games I've actually paid for.

I don't think it's too rare, copies were out everywhere and it got a Playstation 2 port and sequel. It doesn't emulate well, though,

Don't know if it's rare or not. I purchased it on a whim back when it came out, and I wasn't disappointed. I know it emulates fine for 64, and there's also a PS2 version. It was one of the first console games out there to use a cover and shoot mechanic as its primary playstyle. In the game, you play as a member of a counter terrorism strike team trying to stop a terrorist group from taking control of a satellite lazer cannon. You've got several guns at your disposal, with your pistol having unlimited ammo, as well as a sub machine-gun and a shotgun for situational uses, as well as some gadgets in there. There's a bit of a stealth element, too, as you can get a silencer for your pistol, and you can sneak around and have to worry about your enemies field of view and whatnot. The game also keeps an internal timer of how long it's taking you to complete it, which determines your ending. Like I said, it's one of my favorite N64 games, and if you're looking for a TPS, hell, one of the ones that started it all on consoles, give it a look.

I'm actually playing it via Project 64 and it runs near perfect. Occasionally there's an issue with the in game radar going grey and repositioning itself on the screen, but it's easily fixed by toggling the radar. Doing so corrects it's position and turns it back from grey to normal.

Castlevania 3.
I'm up to Frankenstein's castle, and I've only made it to Frank once. For fuck's sake, he's easier than the shit you have to put up with to get to him.

I'm playing Giga Wing later today. First time I ever try it after hearing so much about it, pretty excited. Got it as a Christmas gift, which is even better.

Glad I found a nice PDF guide or I would be pretty lost.

I'm about to fire up Chrono Cross. I've put off playing the game pretty much since it first came out because "muh not a direct sequel," but you guys here at /vr/ have sparked an interest in the game for me, so I'm finally biting the bullet and playing it tonight.

>> No.2146306

Dinocrisis. Why did Resident Evil go on for years when this one stopped? It seems alright so far. I'm enjoying it. It's exciting at least.

Silent Hill is next. Bummed about the HD release flopping. I don't know how to play the second and third one now if the collection is so bad it should be avoided.

>>2146267

Try not to take it too seriously, and let the music envelope you. I really hope you enjoy it. It's one of my personal favorites of all time. Still listen to the soundtrack while studying.

Roger Wilco, Anon. I'm a big soundtrack guy myself, so losing myself in a good soundtrack won't be hard at all.

had this game as a kid, tried playing it a few times but too lazy to figure it out so I dropped it.
picked it back up in my teen years, and I loved the shit out of it
