I love RPG-games. I'm looking for recommendations (awesome stories, prefered turn-based FF-esque fighting style, games that you can really get vacuumed into) for either the PS1, PS2 or GBA that I should play and that are pretty affordable.

I've played:
Final Fantasy I-XII
Chrono Trigger
Chrono Cross
Golden Sun (both on GBA)
Suikoden I & II
Vagrant Story
Parasite Eve I & II

Xenogears. Prob the best console RPG story for that era which is a good thing as it's lacking in other elements and disc 2 is essentially a monologue. Don't be put off by that though, it's not a game to be missed if you like the genre.

Not sure if you've tried it since you only listed off the numerical FF games, but Final Fantasy Tactics is a good game for getting immersed. You can just completely ignore the story and build up units and shit, feels good.

Tactics: Advance and A2 don't allow you the freedom that Tactics does with unit building, but it has improvements over the original. Their stories are shit, though.

Nobody's mentioned Wild Arms yet, so definitely those. This includes 1 & 2 for PS1, and while not retro, 3 & 5 on PS2 are recommended too.

legend of mana on ps1 is COZY as fuck and has awesome action-rpg battles

i really want to get a hold of star ocean second story for ps1 as well... while we're on the topic does anyone know any other cool 2d rpgs for ps1? already have valkyrie profile (yes its good, probably not worth the $90 you'll have to fork over though). and i know about breath of fire & suikoden also why were no ys games localized for ps1 god damn they missed the market.
