You're going to try out every single Atari game? I think that might qualify as some sort of version of hell. Stick to the classics my friend.

Just looking at my shelf, here are some fun ones:
Adventure
Asteroids
Atlantis
Battlezone
Berzerk
Breakout
California Games
Centipede
Circus Atari
Cosmic Ark
Decathlon
Demon Attack
Dragonfire
Frogger
Galaxian
Joust
Jungle Hunt
Kaboom
Keystone Kapers
Missle Command
Moon Patrol
Ms. Pacman
Phoenix
Pitfall
Pole Position
Popeye
River Raid
Space Invaders
Super Breakout
Video Olympics
Warlords
Yar's Revenge

Don't be a noob either and make sure you toggle the game modes to suit your play style.

Without a paddle it's just not the same for some of the good paddle games. Otherwise I'd suggest Demon Attack, Warlords, Kaboom!, Demons to Diamonds, Circus, Super Breakout, and Warlords. The mouse emulation isn't the best if you can even figure out how to get it working, which can be a bitch.

If you have a friend Freeway might be worth a shot, it's not really all that difficult or deep for gameplay. You pretty much just dodge some cars and move up.

Not trying to start any flame wars here but I rarely ever see Atari or other similar games/consoles from that time period talked about much here.

I'm pretty sure I understand why though.

Hmm, I remember Star Raiders and Miner 2049er from my Atari 800, dunno whether they were released for the 2600 as well.

Still, they're good games to add to your list!

How can anyone make a picture like this without mentioning any of the Imagic games?

When it comes to multiplayer, 'Freeway' is the one we usually break out.

My personal favourite is 'Sky Skipper'.
