Can't say I do, but I know I have an old harddrive with a couple gigs worth of assault maps for UT. I grab pages from gamefront and similar sites and throw them into jdownloader. Not all of the maps are golden, but they're mostly fun if bots are supported.

I really wiish the Omnipotents assault server/community was still active... Assault is probably the funnest damn thing on earth.

Go with the Dreamcast port if you're looking for a port (rather than the PS2 version). Both preform rather poor compared to the PC, though.

It basically comes down to playing every map/game mode, leading up to a final 1v1 with Xan Kriegor at the end. If you want a better simulation of the "sport" aspect of it, UT2004 does it better, allowing you to recruit team members using money and "simulating" other matches in the background. IMO, a real sport-type game with full-on seasons, transfer windows and stuff would be neat.

I want to say the Ocarina of Time, because at least once a year, I give it a playthrough, but technically, the one game I play even more, I never finish, and that would be Final Fantasy V. I give that puppy an average of 2 playthrough's a year. Sometimes I play my GBA copy, sometimes, I emulate the SNES original, but I have never finished it. I get to the very end, and usually take a week to beef up levels and job classes to prepare for the final fight, but then I get burnt out and don't feel like fighting him, so I drop it.

I've been playing The Hell mod, it has all the content from both vanilla and hellfire in addition to a ton of other bug fixes and a few new quests. It really has to be played to be appreciated. It makes the game a lot more challenging while completely maintaining the atmosphere, nothing feels out of place. It's what Diablo should have been all those years ago.

Its menus were one of the worse menus ever done, (they were done with the pad in mind).
It required a very powerful rig in its moment, so no one could play it, there was too much clutter on the screen so seeing other players was too hard, the colors dissapeared and became shades of brown, most of the maps were shit, the vehicle modes were also shit compared to 2k4, and the trippy and varied Unreal Tournament theme was replaced for a generic Gears of War space marine theme.

It was made for consoles, and the PC version was an afterthought. They fixed what they could later, but it was too late. With the failure of UT3, the arena shooter genre died.

I can't say enough good things about it man. It's hard as fuck. At one point I tried to cheat my character through a particularly difficult area and I discovered that none of the old methods work, lol the mod makers actually implemented their own anti cheat measures and I love them for it, it forced me to stay honest and think smart about the way I was playing. I played Diablo 1 since it was released and it forced me to completely rethink the old ways.

There is never a point where you're going to feel too strong for the monsters you're fighting like you would in the vanilla game, you're always going to be either just on par with the monsters or slightly underpowered and this forces you to use smart tactics to get through a horde, etc. No more standing around tanking from all sides like in vanilla, that's certain death.

I will say that the mod maker is a bit of a dick, I think he's got a huge ego and isn't very helpful when other people ask for help making their own mods, etc. I wish he was a little more forthcoming since he and his team are some of the last active people that have such a vast amount of knowledge regarding the inner workings of this old game...

yeah, and now that I think about it, it was one of the first games I ever played that was more complex then a NES platformer. I love the entire atmosphere of D1 and I've never found anything quite like it since. I greatly enjoyed D2 but it just wasn't the same and D3 was a big disappointment.

Has anyone actually had any luck cheating in that mod? I've been playing it for a long time and I wanted to fuck around.

I tried hex editing to increase the starting stats and it looked like it was going to work until I got ingame and all the modified stats were actually locked at 0. It seems they went to great lengths to ensure that nothing works. Cheatengine also doesn't work properly, most you can do is change gold values and even that is buggy.

I only play single player so it's not like I'm going to fuck up everyone elses enjoyment of the game by doing this. To be completely honest I mainly just want to recreate a character that I had in an early version of the mod that I lost and have never been able to recreate playing legit.

last night I tried hex editing elixirs to make them give more stat points, but they still only gave one. Also tried modifying the stash file to fill it with elixirs, also didn't work, it either filled it with random garbage or crashed the game. Tried directly editing the character file and when you get ingame, just like if you try to edit the starting stats, all stats became locked at zero instead of the values entered. Also tried editing monster levels to make them drop better items but it did not work either. The game either crashed or it was as if I changed nothing at all.

Before anyone says to try some of the established trainers, etc... You can't even dupe elixirs by copypasting the stash file because of the way he's changed the way stat points work.

Vanilla Diablo is piss easy to change these types of things, this guy really doesn't want people fucking with his mod, It's not clear what exactly he's done to make none of this shit function, whatever it is he did a good job. I really have no idea where to go from here lol guess I'm just going to have to keep playing legit.
