Uh.....I live in Japan and outside of Gundam merchandise and games, where it's just "SD" and nobody actually knows what the letters stand for chibi is FAR more common than "super deformed." Do you honestly think a Japanese person wants to go through the effort of using such a complicated and difficult to pronounce descriptor all over the place? You have chibi, an overarching style. SD is a sect of chibi:
