Is the Game & Watch series considered retro gaming?
What's the best Game & Watch game?

What's good way to find some old G&W machines? Does anyone resell these?
Also someone once linked this, its really cool
http://www.pica-pic.com/
someone went and digitised some old LCD games, some G&W and some other brands

>> No.2102195

I think Tiger missed the point of the LCD games, it seems like they treated it as just a monochrome display to make games on. I have a sonic 3 one and it's unplayably convoluted
As for the game and watch series, it becomes a sort of mesmerizing rhythm after a while and I love it. My favorites are Fire and Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong is great. The orange, dual screen design is classic too.

Best Game & Watch game is obviously Octopus.

Octopus is a lot of fun. Though I always got too greedy, and got caught.

I don't own a single Game & Watch, though I would really like at least one.

I had one of those Nintendo Mini Classics, the one based on Super Mario Bros. I was 8 at the time and got it on a skiing trip, and I didn't really "get it".

Anyways, I rather like the actual designs of the people/objects in G&W games (not Mr. Game and Watch; he misses the entire point of the designs). Lots of use of negative space and posing/positioning for obvious reasons, but they're interesting to look at.

gotta ask, did anybody really enjoy these when they werent new, you werent very young, or you werent on a nostalgia trip? ive never played one but they seem a lot like the 9000-in-1 games to me which even as a kid bored me.

I remember getting Game & Watch Gallery II for the GBC when it was new. I was young but not THAT young and I still enjoyed it, sometimes I even liked the classic version more, like in Vermin.

I got Mario Bros and Donkey Kong Jr from Goodwill for about $2 each

This was back before Goodwill sent the good stuff to their online store, though

There used to be one of those at my grandmas when I was young. Playing that was always one of the highlights of visiting.

No, they're considered cutting edge technology.
