The PlayStation will be 20 years old in a few weeks. Launched December 3, 1994 in Japan. So what is your absolute favorite PS1 game?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIA0kaGFIhQ
And for me, it'll always be Ape Escape. Easily one of my favorite platformers of all time. I spent a whole summer playing this with my friends. It's one of the few games I can still pick up each year and replay without ever feeling burnt out or bored, even though I know pretty much the whole game like the back of my hand.
metal gear solid
I cannot decide between MediEvil, Future Cop: LAPD or the PS1 port of DiabloMy childhood exists in the form of 3 black circles on my shelf. they can't be seperated
>>2083348Future Cop. Always Future Cop. Especially because it aged better than the other two.
>>2083348For you.CAPTCHA: earlaxer variety
>>2083323I imagine that'll be a lot of people's favorites. Definitely my number 2 behind Ape Escape.>>2083348I'd agree with >>2083369. Never played the PS1 Diablo, but the other two were great games. Though I find myself frustrated with MediEvil's combat these days personally.
Lets update this, it would be helpful. I made some space to add more games.

Final Fantasy VII, duh
>>2083278Syphon Filter. I spent so many hours playing that game back in the day. I loved how it got progressively more challenging as the game went on and the weapons were satisfying as all hell to use.Resident Evil 2 comes in at a close 2nd.
I hated the Ps1 and the fact that every game look like it had Michael J Fox Syndrome
>>2083438Where's tactics ogre
>>2083392why is there only 1 tomb raider? and im glad theres no sign of ff8 anywhere
Shadow Tower or Einhander
>>2083285I feel exactly the same way about Crash Bandicoot 2.
>>2083391the PS1 port of diablo is a really good port and has couch co-op, but it has the mother of all load times and eats memory cards.Playing it on PS1 is like second nature to me though and I could never get into any of them on PC.
The ass was fat
>>2083348> the PS1 port of DiabloGross.
A tie between:Castlevania: Symphony of the NightCrash Team RacingMetal Gear Solid
>>2084068I'm surprised there's only TR3 on there too, I thought 2 was the more popular one, also the first was a really strong game as well.
>>2083278This always will be the one for me. My dad and I fucking loved this game back in the day. The sequel was great too, but not nearly as good as the first game.

>>2083505That is too bad.

>>2083392> fightans> no Star Gladiator
I love Metal Gear Solid, but pic related manages to outdo it as the PS1's masterpiece. And then we have games like Suikoden II, Symphony of the Night, Gradius Gaiden and Sexy Parodius. Man, Konami was on fire during the late 90s. I miss that...
The Playstation's release and popularization lined up perfectly with my transition into adulthood. I was with my fat, older girlfriend living the easy life. Then my best friend, who was her room-mate at the time bought a Playstation.I had a bitter taste in my mouth from Sega CD and after seeing the 3DO, CDi, and Jaguar I was pretty sure I was too old for video games. I had played Destruction Derby and Twisted Metal the year before that with another friend who worked at Babbage's and I liked Twisted Metal pretty good but then when that other friend got one that Christmas with Resident Evil and Tomb Raider and I was frequently alone with it, or stayed up after I put them to bed I realized that video gaming had finally grown up right along with me.So that first friend hooked me up with a job at Babbage's and I joined the mall party scene. I met some much hotter girls, got my own place and put in some arcade machines from the good old AAMA auctions and got popular. The Playstation more than anything else reminds me of that awesome time in my life TM reminds me of being a nerdy virgin. RE and TR were both shockingly good games and remind me of my transitional period. Then the major game that I associate with the height of my awesome 90s lifestyle was FF7.
>>2085746What arcade game is that? I can't tell. Donny Koig?

>>2085796I know right? Good thing they blurred it.
>>2085551Now the only good thing to come out of Konami is endless Metal Gear sequels and their 2010 conference.

The most underrated console is definitely the VCS aka Atari 2600.VCS threads get shit all over here and the ultimate pleb gauge, eBay also shows that people don't find them to be worth shit.I believe there are a number of reasons for this. Games are more than just the program. The packaging art, manuals and supplemental materials are all integral parts of the experience and that eludes a lot of modern players. Mainly though, the flood of shovelware that brought Atari down to start with in The Crash is STILL stinking up the system's rep. People paying more for a copy of ET that's been buried for 30 years than for a new condition Swordquest trilogy is proof of that. The VCS went from ruling the fucking world to being a laughing stock. That's about as underrated as you can get.
>>2089536I posted it in the wrong thread though lol.>>2089537
>>2086896Yeah. And the double bad thing is, they're also sitting on Hudson Soft licenses that are begging to be used more.
>>2089546Dude Thank you so much. I have been trying to remember this cartoon for years and recognizing the Monkey hero character led me to finally rediscover Monkey Magic. This has bothered me for so long. Thank you 100 times
>>2083278>So what is your absolute favorite PS1 game?Either wip3out s.e or gradius gaiden both of which i still play alot today.
>>2083392Sometimes I forget how awesome the PS1 RPG library was. Just look at that.
Made this chart, hope someone enjoys it
While I'm sure this might be an odd choice, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for "Rugrats: The Search For Reptar", even if it might not be that great of a gameI also agree with >>2083285, Ape Escape was boss. And really, there were loads of great games for the console
>>2083278>absolute favorite PS1 gameI can't think of any Playstation exclusives, but this, easily.
I picked this game up on a whim. Turned into one of my all time favorite games.
>>2085796I believe it's called Dankey Kang.
too many to pick an absolute favorite but here are some top choices man I really want to bust out Fear Effect soon
>>2091001yay, 3x3 love
Jet MotoMedal of HonorNeed for Speed 2
>>2085876Looks like we got a faggot and/or virgin janitor on the loose, submitting ban requests for four day old pics of people in their underwear. Here's Maximo. Hopefully it will make his head explode.
I'm going to play Suikoden II to celebreate
>>2084434>Not fouling the sanctity of your memory card filling 10 slots with one save
>>2089791Best hour long game ever. Game is the shit.>tfw THQ is dead
>>2090953Holy shit, this. I played the pseudo-sequel Shadow Hearts first, and a couple years later found out about this game. It was really addicting and I loved it a lot.
>>2091007This pic could be Michael Jackson or Gaddafi
>>2091947There's no pseudo about it, it is a sequel.
>>2091845Fucking LMA Manager, a single save took the whole card.
The Mega Man X games.

>>2092170I love X6 but yeah X5 was shit
>>2083278FFVII - The game that convinced me and a gorillion others to buy a PS1
>>2089751I don't even seek these things out (ok, I sought out the 2 Lunars) and look how many of the things I've picked up. So many RPGs. Its honestly my last choice for actually playing them as they are usually really slow paced/have lots of trite dialogue/long loading times, but despite that there's still stuff there for my tastes.
Symphony of the night mother fucker
Absolute favorite, Probably Street Fighter EX+@
Threads of Fate. Not only my favorite PS1 game, but my all time favorite vidya game as well.
>>2083278>it has been almost 20 years ever since Sony destroyed Nintendo's reign in the market>they're still the king to this day

For me it´s either Metal Gear Solid or Gran Turismo 2, can´t decide between the two.The PSX had too many good games for it´s time. Shame that the first generation 3d games have aged so badly. At least they still play great on my PS One with LCD screen.
>>2083285This is mine, the console has a lot of great games but there aren't many that really tick all the boxes the way Ape Escape does.
>>2083285I don't know if it's my favorite, but this game is definitely up there and the first thing I think of when I think analog.
>>2083392I'd add Jade Cocoon to rpgs. I can't think of a lot of rpgs that give you the option to fight, but made you bad at it and made you gain no experience from killing your foes. It was a unique game to play.
wow, everyone in this thread has shitty taste.>tfw no one mentions:Brave Fencer MusashiLegend of DragoonsTeam BuddiesJersey DevilTomba (fuck you faggots for not saying Tomba)EinhanderBlastoMonster RancherYou fags should be ashamed.
>>2098685Tomba is fucking terrible and I suspect you of exhibiting sociopathic mannerisms because of your love for it.
>>2098697>Tomba was terribleFuck you, you piece of shit. It was given a sweet ass rating at the time by like 5 different VG magazines. You're probably just butt hurt because you're fat whore cunt of a mom didn't buy it for you. Faggot.
>>2098718he did not say that.
>>2098720It's a Parkinson's joke faggor
The Playstation began a new era of gaming and helped redefine certain genres and it's easy to post a list of the real 'killer' games but one game that really made me love the Playstation was Parappa the Rapper. It was the sort of game you'd never expect to happen and a great sign of Sony's batshit-crazy style that still lives on in gameslike Tokyo Jungle.
Symphony of the NightMetal Gear Solid Those are the only two playstation games I've played
this bad boy.
Many, probably too many. But two of them are for sure MGS and Tombi (tomba for ntsc players)
the tenchu games.
>>2083278Syphon Filter 1 & 2. Never played 3, but from what I've seen it's nothing too special.
