Let's have a TurboGrafx-16 thread.

1. What are some good games for it?
2. What is the best game?
3. What are your thoughts on the console?

TG-16 is super cool forever. NEC4LIFE

The Bonk games are great. Bloody Wolf is good. Legendary Axe is good. Neutopia is a really charming Zelda clone. Splatterhouse is scary. Dragon's Curse is good. There's a really trippy Pacman game.

I love the TG-16, one of my fave systems of all time. The hu-cards are still the sturdiest tough sons of bitches Ive ever seen. Ive never had a hu-card go bad, and Ive left them in hot cars for weeks, had liquids spilled on them, and used ones that were scratched to hell and back. If those things had have had the memory capability to save games on they would have been the perfect game format for a long long time.

Anyway my fave games are Devils Crush, Blazing Lazers, Bloody Wolf, Parasol Stars, Dragons Curse, Alien Crush, the Bonk games, the Neutopia games (even if they are blatant Zelda ripoffs) and motherfucking Cadash.

1. Any game in the Bomberman, Bonk, of Soldier series are solid. As are ports of Gradius, Parodius, and Twin Bee
2. Splatterhouse, Bomberman '94, Blazing Lazers to new a couple
3. I, personally, think that the PC-Engine family of consoles are probably the most underrated systems of all-time

It's great just burn games for it no copy prot

I don't think they're underrated. People want to play them they're just relatively rare and very expensive.
I just got a TurboGrafx 16 and I want some controllers for the multiplayer games. They're like $50 a pop on ebay. And then the games...oh man. I'm reading up on flashcarts.

They're not underrated if you're into retro. Ask most people outside of our community and they've likely never heard of the TG-16 (unless they lived in Houston in the late 80's). I can't tell you how many "retro" stores I've been to that have either zero TG-16 merch or they're have like five dirty-ass Hu Cards. All of which are either Kieth Courage or World Class Baseball.

A lot of people in retro have never heard of it. A lot haven't heard of the Saturn or Master System either.
They're not widely known but among the people who know of the TurboGrafx they probably think the games are pretty neat even if they plan on never playing them.
Where as something like the Master System is pretty underrated. A lot of crap but there's some neat games on there.

The main downfall of this console is that the main bulk of the library never got an english release. My favorite shmup of all time is Gate of thunder

Having just finished Ys Books 1 and 2, I've had very mixed feelings about the PC Engine. Rondo of Blood was absolutely incredible the playthrough; one of the only games I've played where it actually lived up to all the hype I heard about it.

Ys 1 and 2 had some good gameplay and that music was completely eargastic. Those back and forth quests, particularly in Solomon's Shrine though, did get very tedious. You can REALLY tell it was a port of a PC game. Reminded me a lot of playing the Gold Box games in that way.

Otherwise, it's a console with some really good games, but not really a lot of hidden games. You've got some good shooters, some good RPGs, some good action games, some good RPG hybrid games (Cadash, Dungeon Explorer, etc.) but not a lot of games which are going to blow your mind, just a lot of fun games and some really good ports too.
