Remember when Akuma/Gouki was really bad ass?

He's lost something these days. Just a demon caricature.

The REAL Akuma/Gouki is the absolute master of the fist. His intimidation came from the perfection of his fighting style, not from glowing red eyes.

I finally defeated him on the first try (as in first try of that particular run) on the hardest difficulty of level 8 in ST when I was about 14 or 15, and my friends stared in disbelief as I dispatched him the Akuma mode of Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold.

Somewhere in the years following Akuma became a "scrub" player's character, and that's a shame.

Let's all meditate on the nature of destruction.

His very best theme imo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Smq039eZYQE

Personally I think every returning character in Street Fighter IV got neutered to some extent. I hate that game's art style and how it panders to canonfags. I always thought it was a mistake to bring back Gouken.

I, on the other hand, find SFIV's art style the best in the series, and, perhaps, the best in the whole genre.

I disagree so strongly you wouldn't believe.

But since I'm not a faggot who throws tantrums over other people's tastes I'll leave you be and hope you have a nice weekend.

That's what happens when the secret boss that demands you to achieve a high score and perfect matches in order to try to fight him, and even meeting the requirements it's a pretty hard fight becomes easily playable in several installments of the game.

Ironic that you say this because Akuma's initial appearance is where he's the scrubbiest. The rest of the games balance him out so that your friends won't beat you up IRL for picking him.

He's frequently a strong character, but SF2 was where he was most broken.

I think SFIII3S is the best art style. It's gorgeous.

Also Akuma looks best in SFA3 with the white hair and blue robes.

You have obviously never played a good Akuma player in Third Strike.

He is not a "scrub" character, he is a character that in the right hands will perfect you in under 10 seconds if you can't block his mixups.

He still has all the power, has always been a top tier contender in every game he's in, and if you are good enough is seemingly unstoppable. However because of his low HP it's extremely risky to play him.

I really love everything 3rd strike did with its visuals. The sprites are well animated really well shaded and have a good feeling of mass to their movements and the artist they had did a fantastic job with the in game protraits. See here >>2080785

Remember when video games during the early 70's to mid 90's ran a lot on the player using their imagination?
Just because you were impressed by him as a kid and made up things in your head doesn't mean that it's true.

Just food for thought.

The white hair was a good look. I also seem to remember accessing some sort of palette menu when I was young and mking his hair yellow and his gi black.

As much as I love SFA2 I think they nailed his theme on the very first try (SSF2T).

Even without the increased damage-dealing ability, he'd still be one of the deadliest fighters because of the huge amount of options he has to attack with - motherfucker turn into a Swiss Army knife every time you leave the ground.

I remember my first and only attempt on fighting Akuma I was legit scared and hyped, the music was so intense and when he did Raging Demon.

It lost its dynamic with the drums not having that much of a presence, but it matched Alpha 2G just fine and was a decent arrangement.

Now if you want to talk about good songs REALLY fucked up then have I got a treat for you.
