I always liked DKC's. The music was super chill, especially the first game, an Enguardo was a fun ride. The ones in 2 were fucking terrifying: the with the epilepsy-inducing lantern fish and the others where the water gets too hot and you have to chill it out with the sealbros.

I'm down to talk about Demon's Crest.
It was the first game I ever wanted after playing it at a family friend's house. I looked forward to that more than anything else when I visited. Then after like 7 years I got it as a birthday present from him. Best present ever. after 15 ish years in my care I've still put more hours into that game than any other. The bosses are hype as fuck, the mechanics feel great, the soundtrack gives me that eel that only the snes can deliver. Whenever i visit home from school, the first thing I do is curl up in bed and play Demon's Crest under the soft glow of my crt until I either beat it or fall unconscious. I developed a habit of cleaning the cart every 8ish months for fear of it wearing out of overuse.
Phalanx is wurst turk

Maybe not exactly that kind, but for instance his use of Devil's interval chords and certain modulation and motifs just kind of get to me. Also, a machine could have also written Bach. Classical music is even more formulaic, and pop songs use the same 4-5 chords. It doesn't mean the music is less good or less inspiring. If you want something that breaks away from "harmony textbooks", try listening to expressionist music, and see how you feel. Alternatively, Merzbow.

No. Please, educate yourself. Even artistic merits aside, MSS is not capable of producing counterpoint, it generates pieces in the harmonic style.

>Classical music is even more formulaic, and pop songs use the same 4-5 chords.
Pop songs use 4-5 chords. Meanwhile, "classical" music is not a thing, while academic music has achieved incredibly complicated harmonic and polyphonic systems, and then went beyond the concept of tonality and built several entirely new musical languages.

But you don't seem to be an actual musician, so I will need to stop.

There were a variety of changes and instrument choices made to the same basic song in banjo kazooie/tooie. Despite it being the same score it still created a ton of unique atmospheres. A machine couldn't have done that with the polish or charm that Grant Kirkhope did.

>> No.2078576

>>2078552
But Bach used really simple harmonies and lots of imitation to achieve polyphony. You can use math to write it, it's been proven.

demon's crest is a mediocre platform game released for the snes. the movement is agonizingly slow and there is very little content, most of the game revolves around drawing out every little minute action to kill as much time as humanly possible. it shamelessly borrows from other contemporary platformers, most notably megaman and castlevania, but does not add much that is unique or interesting. the art and world\character design is excellent, but everything else is average at best.
