I'd play him 2 ways usually depending on mapset. You can either build melee cleric raise strength, stamina, agility and wisdom or ranged cleric raise inteligence, wisdom and stamina. Skill order? I dunno, for melee cleric I always take at least level 1 Blessing and then I'd max Mace skill and Sacrifice max passive skill first, then max Offensive aura and you're set for wrecking bosses in few hits.
Can't suggest skill order for ranged cleric because I play him rarely

I just finished Going Down with Fighter and he was FUCKING INVINCIBLE at around level 40.

Then one of the later levels I got a 1800+ kill chain and gained like 40-50 levels at once and maxed out all these important skills and was pulling 1600+ a hit with the axe.

Now I'm trying Mage and I'm doing like 20s and he gets no HP regen or fucking nothing. All his skills so far seems to be dildos too.

The downside to the zandronum version (both 1.3 and 2.0 versions) is that they require pain states in the player to function, so it wouldn't be as clean as the G/Zdoom version. But it's not a huge amount of decorate to add. Also the software mode of zand doesn't support voxels, so in software mode the platforms look less awesome since they have to use sprites.

I'd love to see the platforms used in more projects. Right now I think Blackfish is using one in one of his maps. The more the merrier!

To be fair Doom Retro peddles donations harder than Ednerd peddles p2p Doom multiplayer.

You can use SetActorProperty with APROP_ScaleX and APROP_ScaleY though, or use a textures lump.


If you're interested in having others in such a project contact marrub or me over irc, we're wanting to do a void-esque gothic surrealist mapping project focused on puzzles and gzdoom features like the platforms. Marrub has some mapping done and we both have some fights and puzzles worked out as far as what we want to do and how it would be coded.

I usually play modern-type sourceports with full mouselook + auto-aim, and if I'm playing a mod that scales damage for headshots or has a lot of projectile weapons, I make sure auto-aim is off.

I like to play Chocolate Doom once in a while, though, and use only analog turning. Sometimes I play Legacy in splitscreen mode with controllers, and since analog axes need to be set and adjusted through the console in Legacy, and I can't get Legacy to save settings/haven't felt like manually figuring out which joy_# equates to which button and writing axis sensitivities that have to be fine-tuned to the hundred-thousandth into the .cfg, I just use D-pad turning and shoulder strafing.

I've never tried with GMOTA, but I HAVE seen a couple scripting mishaps in Unloved with other gameplay mods. Specifically, the door to the back yard wouldn't open, even with the key, and the bars in the attic that lead to the blue key wouldn't open. If you know the WAD well enough to recognize this is happening, you can just noclip through the door/bars and continue as usual.

Also, I was playing with Satanic Redux, whose scripting I'm told is an absolute mess, so you might have better luck with GMOTA.

I have three pointers on it, one is that the muzzleflash is awfully big for a .22 (but I can leave that to stylistic choice), second is that the magazine is manually wound after being placed in the gun, this is generally not how you'd use a Calico, yes, you wind it up progressively as you fill the magazine with cartridges, but if you're going to use it anytime soon, it's fine to leave the spring mechanism wound up, you'd only really need to release the spring tension if you're going to store the magazine for long periods of time.
Third point is just a visual detail, but Calico magazines are octagonal on the outside.

Ah okay. You're running into shadow aura enemies, which will probably wreck your shit 10 times before you hit the ground. Check the Doom RPG Options menu and make sure your Aura Curve setting is set to 0 and the Bad Enough Dude setting is off, that should hopefully solve the problem.

Have a look at the Revenant replacement: The "famine", it fires two homing, bouncing projectiles. Right now it has a chance to both resurrect itself on Death and/or explode, doing damage to you if you're close enough.

Mouse without Y axis movement most of the time. When I want to use freelook I leave autoaim on. Those are rare ocasions though, I feel like Doom weapons feel weaker and the gameplay not as satisfying with freelook on.
If I'm playing a mod with new guns and stuff I use freelook because they usually disable autoaim and introduce recoil and other things that require Y aiming.

Two quality of life suggestions :
Treasure chests/cubes immune to telefrags. Instantly trading your pow+ weapon for a torch when the map tried to give you a powerup is more aggravating than Demonsteele's pain elementals.

The ability to do a normal shield withdraw when you have pow+.
I am thinking of something like pressing reload when you have a pow+ shield raised switches you to the sword after a small delay. Basically so you can cancel the massive knockback and use it normally instead of flinging a chest/boss into a pit for example.
Its the only weapon that gets situationally worse when upgraded. Angry martians in particular are much harder to stab when you cant block the flames without pushing them away.

Speaking of shields I've found out the coolest bug involving the shield. PLEASE DONT FIX IT.
You can extend the delay between your combo atks by blocking. For example you slash thrice, block until your stamina is almost zero and atk = large sword wave. Works with punches too. Its insanely amusing to uppercut unaware enemies into oblivion or simply reposition yourself to get the most out of the combo finisher.

Also I remember you saying ages ago that you were looking into ways of nerfing OP shit like the triple hatchet in closed spaces. Now Blaz can kill a row of spider masterminds with two piercing lances. Wat.

Well I've been playing Kyle's Doom RPG a lot and have been enjoying it with every level set I've played it with.

Let me make a step by step guide for you.

1) Get a version of GZDoom that can handle the mod(I use 2.1)
2) Make a folder for this specific instance of GZDoom
3) Download zip and launcher
4) Put Doom RPG-Master folder from the zip into GZDoom folder
5) Put launcher in GZDoom folder
6) Put IWADs in GZDoom folder

After that you just point the Launcher where GZDoom and the Doom RPG folder is.

Then choose your custom PWAD folder and there you go.

Turmoil's projectile only does 3 damage
The pitkis's projectile does 2 Damage

Every enemy's projectile has +Strifedamage on it (which sorta reduces their random damage roll to 1d4, instead of 1d8.)

By default, it'll only do a certain amount of damage before the beam blasts off into space (or the ceiling, depending on where you're at). This is toggleable with CVARS, which can also set if you want the beam to be curved or just a straight line. The video was made with an older version of the beam with no cap and just made a straight line between enemies. See I was thinking the upgrades and special items would be weapons and stuff. You start with a pistol but for the sake of gameplay it shoots projectiles. Weapons would alter your projectile behavior. It modified the e1m2 of the original doom along with other maps and one of the changes I remember the most was the addition of a monster closet containing pinkies on this area. Brutalized Doom is a mixed bag. Some maps have neat ideas to enhance the experience, and at times even make them feel like new levels. Other maps however barely do anything to change the level outside of more enemies.
