what do you use to change emulated music files like nsf to mp3s? also general emulated music thread if you want, you can get them here:

Foobar plugins. You could also use winamp I think. Foobar lets you convert pretty much any game music format. However x68000 MDX files crash foobar for me.

Emulating makes a lot more sense than increasing file size and decreasing quality by converting to mp3.

>> No.2064345 [DELETED]

Dude, emulating is shit.

Just spend some dollars on Retron 5 and enjoy your cartridges the way they're meant to be played. Sure, it is expensive, but it's seriously worth it.

Not for a portable device. You can get a chip to decode mp3 for pennies but a processor beefy enough to emulate a sound chip is several bucks. And it will probably do a bad job of it. I remember just did emulation taking like 10% of one of my old phenom cores

Agreed.
But you don't understand me
.nsf contains audio data extracted from a ROM.
it Is just the description of the nsf format as "emulated music files" triggered my autism
>>2064349
No , the problem is that normal media players dont have nsf support.
Even a modern potato can play nsf files.

I get the most accurate plugin for winamp, then use winamp's own converter to make them into mp3s. Then I tag'em.

Your problem is your going through all the trouble and it's going to sound like shit because it's replacing half of the frequency range with white noise. Electronics also have a life of there own and are effected by age, temperature, as well as many other factors that can't be emulated. Especially sound emulation which is usually always shit. If you were really autistic you would record straight from the source or some systems have trackers that'll play the music on the system. Even better use chip tunes for the most accurate sound emulation

They can be emulated. SPICE models already do this kind of thing. And it's only a major issue in systems like the C64 where you have a substantial analog component to the audio synthesis.

He is talking about converting nsf to mp3
Not recording from real hardware.
Also , nsf is a copy of the original data , can be used in real hardware or in some high quality
emulator.
MP3 is just a stream of audio , nothing to do with the original data.
I prefer to save a lot of space in my HDD and have a copy of the original data( aka , samples , program data , etc..) rather than a stream of bits representing an audio wave.
>>2066296
ROMs are "emulated game files"?
nsf is a copy of the data stored in the game.
The "EMULATED music files" name barely has sense.WTF EMULATED adjective means?
The music data inside the real Nes cartridge is the same data that is on the *.nsf file
*.nsf file can be player by a real NES

>> No.2066429

>>2066417
NSF player is a NES emulator with no graphics. NSF isn't just data, it's also the audio driver code.

RockBox.

i bought a Clip Zip specifically for this. plays SPC, NSF, GBS files, as well as the standard audio files.

granted, its fairly basic in comparison to most desktop apps & plugins, but for most NSFs it works fine.

op here, thanks for the thread, just transfered a bunch of nsf files to mp3, now does anyone know something i can use that will play a playlist of music and blend the end of each song to the start of the next one? and possibly export the whole file to it's own extra long mp3

Literally any music player with cross-fade feature, Clementine for example.
>and possibly export the whole file to it's own extra long mp3
You can do that manually with Audacity, I dont know if theres easier/faster way todo that.
