I liked the nes version of bonk's adventure better than the turbografx16 version

not sure if that's what you meant though

I thought the Doom 64 spinoff was pretty popular, it got a fan porting over to PC even.

I would add Diablo PS1 and Dreamcast versions. Not as good as PC version, but still very good and more random in generation than fucking D3.

The original Gameboy version of Bionic Commando is fantastic even if it ditched the neo Nazi stuffed for a future setting.

Doom 64 was the first game that made me realize consoles are inferior to PC.

Thanks N64 Doom. You terrible game you.

The NES port of Strider is awful, I understand it was a port to weaker and inferior hardware, but I don't think that was a good example of a underrated or good port.

I think Ninja Gaiden to the Master system was a great port, the hardware was similar and it felt like it wasn't watered down.

The only problem with this game are the monster sprites, they are awful. WTF cacodemon is better on Doom 3

I disagree. It's a different game entirely.

it's certainly not Doom 2 or anything but the atmosphere in some of the later levels is pretty cool

also, the soundtrack is nice

Also, the Lunars, Langrissr collection, Falcom classics, Power Drift, the list goes on and on.

the ost of the console version is really cool, but there are huge loading thimes and bad sprite work.

I just recently played this using gba4ios (goddamn that nikita sequence was hard as balls on a virtual key pad!) and it was every bit as good as I remember. I wish Konami would continue the alternate time line.

Well, excluding the levels, everything was 2.5D and the sounds/music compression also helps
There is no black magic, specially when you consier 32MB of space on the average N64 cart

Never played it. However the SMS version of ninja gaiden is tits. IMO its a smidgen better than the nes ones

>> No.2039164

>>2036974
Well, it's not really a port. It's a whole new game with its own levels and graphics. It's missing a few monsters from Doom 2, and the double-barrel shotgun has no reload animation.

>> No.2039170

>>2039164
The sounds and music all come from PSX Doom, and the engine is the same with a few minor upgrades to use N64 hardware. ONLY the levels and graphics are new.

>> No.2039186

>>2039170
Yeah, but the point is that it's not even trying to be 1:1 PC Doom. If "the full thing" is PC Doom, "the whole thing" didn't fit on a small cartridge.

How big were the WADs for the original?

>> No.2039226

>>2039189
Upon checking, the Ultimate Doom IWAD is about 12MB and Doom95.exe is under 1MB. The Doom64 ROM and the Doom64 IWAD that D64EX generates are both about 8MB.

>> No.2039479

Played a lot of diablo 1 and warcraft 2 on my ps1 before I got my own pc. I'd say they were just as good as their pc counterparts except for some interface issues due to the very nature of consoles.

>> No.2039495

>>2039226

The Doom IWAD has a lot more textures than Doom 64 I believe, so that's probably why. Ultimate Doom also has more levels.

>> No.2039498

doom 95 is only the code/engine for the game the original executeable was about the same size though. Wads are the levels and data, compressed wads were about half the size so I don't think fitting it on a cart would be a problem at all
