Holy fuck I love Mischief Makers (and the majority of Treasure games for that matter). Great platforming, great graphics and I love the fact that it's amazing despite being one of the few 2d games on the n64.

Did you like this game /vr/? Also, feel free to discuss any Treasure games (gotta love Gunstar Superheroes).

It was hands down my favorite n64 game as a kid. The other day my gf was giving me a handjob and I couldn't help it, I said "shake shake shake".

Nigga, Alien Soldier > Gunstar Heroes, and that said, Superheroes is underrated (not /vr/ though).

If you're looking for more 2d Treasure action on the n64, definitely check out Bangaioh. It's one of their best games imo. It was also released on Dreamcast with better graphics but the gameplay is a bit deeper on the n64 version and it controls better.

It seems like a standard twin-stick shooter at first but the gameplay is actually quite deep and requires a good amount of thought. You have two shot types you can switch between and you get a chargeable special that becomes more powerful the more enemies/shots are around you. This encourages risk vs reward gameplay and the game becomes quite strategic.

It's import-only and had an extremely limited release so its fairly pricey but it emulates decently.

Definitely check it out, but I'd like to defend the Dreamcast version. It's got more levels and I prefer the risk = reward system more than having to collect fruits to power up.

The DC version is good, but makes the game a lot easier. Also collecting fruits is practically useless (other than points). The store where you buy the power-ups is also gone. I think the N64 version is more "risk=reward" since you have to be careful with your missile launch or you might run out of power, but at the same time, you need to do consecutive combos in order to be able to power up. If you suck, you're stuck in lvl 1 forever even if you collect fruits.

But as the other anon said, I also prefer the N64 version mostly because of the controls.

I agree that its easier, but I also find it more fun.
Also, I'd say the controls are pretty equal in both versions, but then again I've always found the DC controller surprisingly comfy despite the bad rep. N64 controller too, for everything but fighters.

The DC controller is fine actually, but the game is better to me on the N64 because Treasure actually put a lot of thought when making their games. You can use like 3 or 4 different layouts to play Bangai-O. My favorite is using the d-pad to move around, and the c-unit buttons to shoot in 8 directions. But using the analogue stick to shoot is also surprisingly fun and very arcade-y.
