I'd say it's more fruitful to play it before or after a trip, but if you just want a bit if fun while frying there's no harm in giving it a spin for a while

I think it'll help set your mood and it'll be a joy to look at, but you don't really need all that much psychedelic visual stimulation on LSD, it's better to just sit in the dark and get some nice CEV's, or go outside to see how it changes the physical world around you

Sadly I don't know anything about PS1 emulators, I'm sure someone will help you out. Remember to trip safely!

I swear, if a game is about dreams, it's either the most relaxing thing ever or it's downright terrifying. I tried playing Yume Nikki recently because you know, halloween. But I didn't even make it an hour in before I had to stop. Something about it (and LSD, for very similar reasons I have to assume) is just so damn unnerving. Is there some secret trick to burning PS games that I don't know about? I do 1x speed on verbatim CDRs in imgburn, but they are always missing audio or have stuttering and popping in the audio, this game included.

>> No.2019140

I like the idea and premise behind LSD, but I just can't enjoy it as a game. Any time I actually try to sit down and play it I'm just sorely disappointed. Here's why:

Footstep noises
Draw distance
Lack of content
Lack of interactivity

All you do in the game is walk, with annoyingly loud footsteps, toward a white fog thirty feet away. You see all the areas of the game within an hour, and the only thing that happens after that is the textures might change or you might see some new low poly object that doesnt do anything and that you can't interact with in any way. I'm sorry, I don't say things like this often, but I just think LSD fails at the one thing it tries to do - provide an interesting walking experience. So I just can't see how it could be a good game.

I thought he had the res upscaled when playing them. Most emulators take screenshots at their native resolutions.

All of the textures are higher quality than the PS1 can handle, it has to be played through a modern emulator with widescreen. really

>footstep noises
Yeah that never stops being annoying

>draw distance
I think it helps give it a sense of mystery on your first playthough and a tease mechanic in future playthoughs.

>Lack of content
I've been into this game for years and I've not seen half the things in this thread. Yeah it's mostly visual, but it's interesting to me.

>Lack of interactivity
I think it has a very interesting system of interacting. The idea that you cannot control what is happening without destroying it fits the idea of it being a dream and it gives a unique disconnect between the player and the events happening.
I think this is the reason I like it. It is an art game in the best way, it has interactivity the drive the art but without having the player really involved, leaving them to simply observe and the ponder what it's meaning could be.

I know this all sounds horrifically pretentious but I can't think of any better way of putting it. It's like contemporary art, only it becomes good because of the interactivity.

>I love the music, the art style, the cutscenes, everything about it except the game itself
If you mean the controls, then you are wrong.
The controls are fine. what else could you mean,
unless by art style you mean the graphics should be updated in which case that is exactly what makes the game good.
It is interesting because it is glitchy. Jeez.

Not him but the controls could be better

>> No.2029942

The control scheme is appropriate because of the dream like disconnect it causes, however the turning sensitivity and footstep noises annoy me to no end personally.
I like how the PS1's weird polygon rendering distorts everything, it gives it a very hazy look to everything as everything wobbles and bends as you move.

It's an interesting concept but I just think Eastern Mind was better in every way. The gameplay is deeper, the visuals are better, the trippy things are tripper, there's more symbolism, there's an actual win condition...

>> No.2031060

When I first started playing I never saw them. Now I can find them relatively frequently, since I've stumbled across them a few times before and now have a vague idea of how to find them.

Finding anything in the game is mostly a matter of remembering the circumstances in which you found it before, and repeating those circumstances, making variations here and there to see what else you can do.
