Alright /vr/ijoles we're gonna design our dream retro controller. Here's the rules.

1. You can only add one feature per post.
2. Keep it retro

I'll get us started. Here's a template. Now throw some buttons on this bitch.

What the fuck crawled up your ass? It's physically handled hardware, IT WEARS OUT(though rarely quite as horrendously as the earlier mentioned PXL's) insisting on keeping all that retro would be deranged. These are practically commodity items. We're not talking motion controls(well, yes we were, but even that was a non issue). We are not talking gaming keyboards or laser mice. And availability of retro controllers has degraded viciously.

By your quasi-logic, someone discussing talking about replacing a broken power supply would be expected to use only old capacitors and make it 75% or less efficient instead of 83% or more.

Oh look, I used a retro image macro, aren't I being so generous and considerate of you?

Dualshock analogs?
360 had better ones with a better placement

I would suggest replacing the right thumbstick with a trackball.

It's only missing a Select button for nintendrone games.

Personally, I think the absolute perfect pad would be the X360 pad using the Saturns d-pad and abcxyz button scheme. Anything better than that would have to be an arcade stick.

I prefer both stick on the same plane, ala Dualshock/WiiU, and I've already been bitched at for using non-retro parts.

>>1997720
Good idea. I had a mouse with a red trackball back in the day, so I modeled it after that.

So here's what I'm at now:
>Clear Mega Drive/Genesis body
>Neo Geo Pocket stick in place of D-pad
>Dualshock analog stick on left
>Trackball on right
>6 SNES buttons in diamond pattern
>SNES start/select
>SNES shoulder buttons
>Dreamcast triggers
>Dreamcast VMU
>Auto/Turbo switches for every button
>Redundant slowmo switch because I forgot to take it out

Yeah. I noticed after I posted it. It's fixed in all later versions though.

Unless you mean the frame pixels being bigger than everything else. That was just me being lazy. I based it off another n64 image I found. But that isn't inconsistent anyway. There's 4 frame pixels to every "standard" pixel

Fixed spacing on auto/turbo switches (they were all of by a pixel or more somehow), renamed - & + to start & select, removed redundant slow switch (there's already an auto/turbo switch for start that is effectively the same thing), and made the VMU transparent blue

I kinda like the later versions. Maybe that's just because I'm making it though.

Anything you might want to add or change on the current design? I've got a shitload of free time this week and this helps burn at least a few minutes here and there.

I'm a much bigger PC gamer than console, and I feel that a trackball on the controller would help bring some of the accuracy of a mouse to a controller while still being allowable thanks to a select few arcade games. It really makes me wonder why trackballs aren't a standard on controllers nowadays with there being such a huge focus on FPS's.

Alternate recolor just because.
