do I emulate, or use the pc version?

Also, if I do emulate, which emulator?

ive heard the pc version operates ok, but has some audio problems

>> No.1977154

I'd rather emulate it. Less fuss and you can use nice filters.

Best solutions would be to play the new PS4 version though :)

This troll was so big I think it's clogging 4chan's tubes.

PS1 version. I couldn't get the PC version to work, it would freeze my laptop every time, and when I downloaded a patch to fix it, it was at an unplayable framerate.

they are remaking it on PC, but i'm not sure if it's complete yet

>> No.1977561

emulate. The pc versions of these old console games tend to be even more of a mess than modern console ports, if you can believe that.

get the gog releases

The voice controls lick ass if you play it on emulator, but I suppose you can "responsibly" use save states and make Oddysee less of a chore, so there's that.

>> No.1978396

ok, ill emulate

>>1977154
any idea what some good setting/filters may be. Never done ps1 emulation before, seems an odd pain in the ass to get working.

Never had any issues

>out on Steam

No it's not.

>> No.1978460

>>1978456
Indeed, it isn't. I was sure it was out on all of the platforms already.

>> No.1978708

I actually emulated it on the PSP with great success. Map Sneak and Run to L and R and map the Gamespeak buttons to Left and Right on the analog stick.

emulate psx version because of savestates.
if you want to 100% it, it's really a pain in the arse without quicksaves!

Or better yet, watch a playthrough on Youtube, right? Like you often do.

>> No.1978915

haha, good joke, never heard that one before.
it's a puzzle game and the controls are stiff at times, and the loading times of the different screens / reloading when dieing are too long for some.
it's not a shmup or something where reflexes and endurance are key after long, exhausting levels, it's a calm puzzle game with some adventure setting, that happens too be way more tedious if you want to experiment with the solutions.
go fuck your autismo with a cactus

I got a random iso of the PC version to work flawlessly with no tinkering a few years ago on my toaster XP laptop.

Doubt it would go so smoothly on my modern rig.

>tfw it just keeps getting harder to play older games.

>> No.1979052

i played this games like 6 times with keyboard over the course of ten years. I wanted to play it again but this time with my 360 pad but i cant find a configuration that makes sense. No matter what button does what it ends up being impossible to change between rolling, jumping and tip toeing fast enough plus i dont know where to put all the dialogue commands
