That was the best part, though. Your ability level is the only thing stopping you from playing the game in any order you want and that opens up a variety of gameplay variations and therefore replayability. For example, it's possible to beat the game without a sword, or if that's too hard, just get the white sword without getting the wooden on first.

Plus, the fact that everything is available from the start and not "unlocked" by quest progression, you could have the L2 shield, L2 sword, and L2 tunic without ever setting foot in a single dungeon, provided you know what you're doing. That is good game design.

Most other games that offer that kind of gameplay variety require massive glitches, pic related.

But one thing bothers me.
That waterfall between Canada and Greenland. The water is apparently higher in Hudson bay and around the northern Canadian islands there.. but for some reason there's no waterfalls to the north. There's a catastrophic logic error there as the water level is both high and low as you loop around from the north over to the west coast of North America or the east coast of Greenland.

Isle of Winds? It's pretty solid for a fan game as long as you don't mind the sailing mechanic for half the game.

>>1978031
Just Google Zelda Outlands. It's the third hit.

It's a variety of Germanc Runes/Futharc. They were used for most of the maps and play a role in some of the games, most notably in Ultima V.
They even use stuff like NG or EA so it's not just another Latin font.

I never actually finished Outlands. The map was extremely constricting and the backtracking was a poor replacement for non-linearity.

I honestly like star control 3. My main issues with it were the hideous dolls they used for dialogue and the general feeling of incompleteness. It felt rushed.

And I could maybe do with less spaceship fucking.

I love two things, using real world locations as an overworld, and games that have worlds that change via time travel. Ultima 2 has both.
