We all know that the NES had Mario as its mascot, we know that Alex Kidd was the Master System's mascot. Bonk was the PC Engine's mascot. Sonic was the Mega Drive's mascot. But what about the PSX and Saturn? Sonic rarely had any prevalence on the Saturn and the only character I can think of being a mascot for the PSX is Crash Bandicoot. I am in a bind.

I didn't know Segata Sanshiro existed until a few years ago, but still long after the Saturn failed in the states.

I remember reading that Crash was intended (by NaughtyDog) to be the mascot representative for the playstation.

It never took off really because console/company mascots in general sort of died of in the late 90's, probably due to the glut of mascot platformers in the early-mid 90's.

Back in the 90s Crash Bandicoot was the unofficial mascot of PSX but there actually was an official mascot designed for the system.

SAT was a failiure right from the beginning and it was not really a "war" to speak of. It had no real support and no real "killer-app" and thus no real mascot.
What perhaps comes closest might be "Nights" but thats still a long shot.

i think nights was what they were gonna go with, since they scrapped any decent sonic game. whole nuther tangent: they really shoulda worked more in the states with the shining force series. not until a few months ago was i able to play scenario 2 and 3 in english. goddamn.

Crash will always be the PS1's mascot to me. NiGHTs was Saturns mascot, it was actually supposed to replace Sonic just like Sonic replaced Alex Kidd, but it never got quite as popular. I consider Gex to be 3DO's mascot.

I don't see how anyone can question Crash as the PlayStation mascot. He was all over the place back in the day. I still remember the commercials. They even had him in Pizza Hut ads when they were giving out those demo discs.
