holy hell. how long will it take until ps3 games price rises up to match other console's games such as n64/ps2/ps1/SNES/genesis/nes and so on? there was that one window of opportunity where ps2 games were being sold for dirt fucking cheap at gamestop of all places. games were being sold for cents each and i missed my chance on collecting them.

now i'm going back and forth every day to goodwill in search of a ps2. what is the maximum i should spend on one?

Also you answered your own question. The sweet spot for the PS2 was when the PS3 was hot shit and everyone was upgrading. Wait for the next generation to catch on and be on top of the selloff this time.

Two dollars. I generally buy mine for one dollar. Two dollars is my typical price for any loose game though. Gamecube games, despite being from the same generation as PS2 games are really starting to appreciate dramatically but PS2 is certainly the easiest platform to collect for right now. Gamestop may have closed them all out but there's still tons of them to be found at yard sales.

ffffuuuck that's what i'm totally looking for. day 1 was a failure. i walked out with a guitar hero game that i bought for i think $3. it was a guitar hero that i don't own yet, the aerosmith one. so far i have all of the guitar heros except for III which is my favorite. i was a huge guitar hero addict back in the day and i wouldn't be playing the guitar today if it wasn't for that game.

i would ride my bike to my friend's house and play that game with him all summer long every fucking day for hours on end. i don't think he had as much fun as i did though. pussy always played on medium while i was on expert. i would then go home and look up "gh3 (song) 100% expert" videos on youtube before it was bought by google

Considering that gaming became "mainstream" this past gen (in a fucking massive way, anyway) and there's millions of copies of literally every game from that gen and you can still get most of them anywhere; probably never.

What drives up prices of /vr/ material is largely based on availability and then somewhat on hype and or popularity.

So games like FFVII will cost you $30-$50 because of it's popularity. However games like Earthbound will run you what? $300? Just because of how rare it is.

In the future, things like Vanquish might maintain a somewhat high(er) price (think $20-$30) for an older game and things that remain ultra popular may cost as much as they did new. However, there are barely any "rare" games from this past gen. So it's very likely that you won't see that many games that cost over $100.

Hell, even collectors' editions won't cost that much, because there's literally millions of those as well for most games.

The "collector" market for videogames will die faster than the comic book and baseball card markets did. Maybe combined.

I paid $16 for my last fat PS2, with one controller and memory card, but I think I may need another one because it won't play my absolutely pristine looking copy of MGS2. Every other game I have is fine, and that disk worked last time I tried it in someone's BC PS3, so I don't know.
