>First release of the What’s Shenmue translation project. What’s Shenmue is a small demo of Shenmue that was not released outside of Japan.

>The patcher translates every text, graphic and subtitles into English, Spanish and German (One patcher for all). This can be considered the first final version of the project.

>PacoChan’s patcher will only accept original GDI format backups in order to apply the contents of the patch.

Well I didn't expect this. Anyone managed to play it yet?

Lame as hell.

They should've translated a more serious game like this instead.

Saturn translations are not going to be picked up unless we get a proper emulator with debugging tools, and it seems like SSF is not going in that direction anytime soon.

Just be grateful we even got this instead of complaining about what we don't have.

Yabause can be used for debugging, and for most translations you only need to edit string tables, pointers, and a few gfx files.

does anyone have the gdi? I thought i'd upload it already translated to mediafire, but its hard to find

And yet the Segagaga translation is still not progressing.

Considering that Yabause doesn't really work for most games, how can anyone trust it

It sort of is

I wouldn't put much faith in the guys handling the translation. They started something like a decade ago, and they ran into problems like their partial translation throwing ECC errors in Chankast - I had to point out to them that they were hex editing 2352 byte sectors, hence the errors.

They didn't even know how the filesystem worked on the image they tried editing.

Most of these guys are motivated by pure love for the games, and end up getting a lot of outside help. The same happened with the Policenauts translation, they had no idea what they were doing and yet they got it done, as people kept helping them, much like yourself. It is a team effort.

Yeah I'm looking for it too
Also I don't understand if this patch already comes with a bootloader or not to auto-run in the dreamcast
I rather not emulate it, but I don't want to waste burning a disc and find out it still needs to be patched to auto-boot itself

Well, Shining Force III Scenario 2 and 3 both got full translations, and those games are chock-full of text.(like most Camelot JRPGS)

I wonder if these guys could help out with some of the other important Saturn titles later on once they are finished polishing Sc. 2 and 3.

Those guys are fucking wizards as far as I'm concerned, I still have no idea how they do it.
They should put a huge post up explaining their process, just so people can get some reference on how they do it. I wouldn't put it past them using actual dev kits, but if that's the case saturn translations really are going nowhere for the most part, the general crowd just don't have access to those sort of tools
