Come on, i'm a Mega Drive fan, but its common knowledge that most fighting games were superior on the SNES, especially Mortal Kombat 2, 3 and Ultimate. SNES even got SF Alpha 2. The convenience of Mega Drive is the stock 6 button controller that came with MD2. That controller is much better for fighting games like SF2 then the stock SNES controller.

Recently i discovered Yu Yu Hakusho for Megadrive. Its very fun when you play it with 3 other people. Great exclusive fighting game.

This honestly isn't a hipster choice just because the game is (strangely) unpopular, I genuinely find it better than the original in every single way. The art is amazing, excellent music, very good difficulty curve, loads of secrets, it's engrossing to play.

>>1902695
>I don't know how well it holds up to this day
I really don't understand it when people say things like this. The software doesn't change, only your perspective of it may change. So it's not really a case of a game 'holding up'. It's a case of how your taste, attention span, or skill has changed.

Alright, I understand because I'm also a purist and like to play on original hardware. But I also use a lot of emulation mainly to check out games that I don't know to see if I like them enough to buy, or games that are too expensive (most retro games nowadays).

I found that emulating while using a CRT display and a proper USB controller isn't really all that different than using the real hardware, especially on Kega Fusion which is a pretty accurrate emulator in my experience.

I agree with MK2 and MK3 better on SNES, but UMK3 was better in genesis IMO. It has more stages than the SNES version, and the music/sound effects are slightly clearer for me. The SNES version has slightly better graphics though.

SF2 play the same on both, although i admit the SNES version looks a bit better and has cleaner voices. Too bad Capcom did a mediocre job with the voices on the genesis, and the colors selection could have been better too.

Also known as "Thunder Force IV" everywhere else, this game chewed up a bunch of my time during the heyday of the Genesis. Every time I replay this game, I am reminded of how much I sucked at vidya back when I was a kid. I could barely make it to the final level on Easy back in the day. I haven't played it in awhile, so I don't know what my skill level with this game is right now.

I'd have to say that blasting detailed, screen-sized bosses to bits as that bitchin' soundtrack played really kept my spirits up even when I died and lost all my continues for the nth time.

It's still one of my favorites to this day.
