Battlemaniacs is the tough one.

Of course, why would i play without savestates? I'm not stupid.

>> No.1884119

Miss these types of games where it was all about memorization. My sister used to play Battletoads so much she just memorized everything in it and could blast through it without dying. I got the same way with Batman NES.
I don't know if its modern gaming standards corrupting me or simply getting older, but I just can't do it anymore. Heck, even simple things like a boss in Megaman's attack pattern just goes beyond me.

>> No.1884142

>>1883968
Well, I've used them a lot just to play individual levels, but not when I'm actually trying to beat the game from start to finish.

Batman NES isn't about memorization? I thought it was just about raw gaming skill and making those hard jumps.

yeah but battlemaniacs is just a bunch of ideas from battletoads copied straight up. It's sort of disappointing for a game that's the sequel to one of the most varied games on the nes

That game isn't hard just annoyingly tedious.

the problem with that game is that every enemy has like 5 times the amount of health they should have

fix that and you have a decent game

I've hear that Battletoads on the Genesis is harder is that true?

>> No.1885964

>>1885956
It's actually easier and has a few bugfixes. the north american nes release is the hardest overall.

Ok, but I'm playing the Famicom version

OP here, I gave it a quick try. It's hard to say really. All I can say is it's different. You can see they tried to make it easier by slowing certain parts down, and removing some of the obstacles, but some things are actually made faster, like the electric walls in level 2, or seem to have bigger hitboxes than the original ones, like the logs in Surf City or the walls in Turbo Tunnel.
The ice level in particular seems completely fucked compared to the original, platforms move too fast and go out of sync, collision is even worse in places, one of the moving spikes can clip through a wall and hit you from the other side. Everything takes a different number of hits than the original. It's a mess.

Oh and this fag isn't me >>1884113
I don't consider a game beaten if you use save states. I could have used them and beat it back in May when I actually started playing it.

Congrats! Battletoads is definitely one of the hardest good games on NES.
