Ducktales' The Moon is one of the most overrated songs of all time, up there with MegaMan 2's Dr. Wily Stage 1
The latter of which isn't even good. It's OKAY, but there were way better wily and "final" megaman stage themes.
At least the moon is better than okay, but it's not that fucking good.

It's like part of internet culture or some shit. Duck Tales' moon theme has also stuck to the MLP fandom, relegating it to a theme of one of the characters.

Not the NES, but this is the best Wily stage theme, ever.

Hello stupid. Calling a work "overrated" is actually the laziest way of criticizing said work, you're literally saying NOTHING. If you don't like it, just say you don't fucking like it. Hell, give a reason, jump start that brain of yours and make anyone reading your posts not leap to any conclusions about your age or life experience.

There's a reason that Capcom's NES/FC work from 88 to 91 is considered so good, because it literally is that good.

I really like LaGrange Point out of all the chips because it sounds like a Master System game with the FM chip. Really shows you how far Konami tried to push the NES sound limit well Famicom but it's amazing.

>> No.1885681

>>1885592
It's hardly pushing the NES sound limit, in fact, I don't think it even does anything with the 2A03 other than use square waves and DPCM. If anything it was an expensive (and apparently financially unsuccessful) at using FM Synthesis chips in Famicom games. It was released too late, the chips were probably too expensive, and it cost more to produce.

Elaborate on "how does it work?" It just works in that:
>the famicom controls what data is sent to it from the game rom
>It uses that data to set the FM parameters and play the notes
>There are 15 default FM instruments
>you can create up to 64 custom FM instruments
>You can only use one custom FM instrument at a time
It also controls the memory accessed by the Famicom in its own special way

The triangle wave was extremely limited in the NES, yet it was used in a large variety of ways. There's obvious musical ones, such as using it as a flute, then there's technical ones such as quick downpitches simulating drums. Then there's the bizarre ones such as mutilating the waveform to make sound effects in Fester's Quest, and pitching it in a weird way to make a tingling sound in Wizards and Warriors when you use the levitation spell. It had a lot of uses, but it was limited by it's lack of customization, lack of harmony, and lack of volume.

They still count, since they use the native NES sound hardware and someone has recreated them in Famitracker. The games themselves don't count as they weren't made for the NES hardware, though there were several efforts; one was a homebrew port of Concrete Man's stage, and two were ROM hacks; one was an MM4 ROM hack, while another is an MM3 hack, the latter seeing the most progress.
