The new command screen from the AMC TC. Rather than how it was in the original (where the base wasn't really a HUB) this screen now allows you to access all available missions in the game. It also gives you infoormation, like if you've beaten the map or not (and on what skill level) and also lets you order things like air drops if you have an airbase located nearby.

I've seen complex doom getting beef on here and to be honest, I can see why. It is a massive Realm667-fest. Also nigger revenants.

The way it's played online (1 life survival no health respawn) makes 90% percent of maps either impossible, or really fucking tedious. Having to share all the health with 20 other retards doesn't help much, either.

It has its merits, though, and I think with its own mapset it could be plenty of fun. The new monsters have a lot of level design potential.

It is, gambini let me use the hud art from that (since he made it himself) and I added a bunch of things to it. It's still not perfect though but you can fire one-handed guns with a free view like that or have both hands on the wheel. I have yet to add a lever-action T2 winchester but I feel morally obligated to provide a gun like that now.

How are the controls exactly? How can the player decide whether the "left" keys makes him turn left or whether it makes him look left?

Or maybe they are different keys? So "strafe-left" (on the WASD) makes him turn left, but looking left with the mouse makes him aim left with the gun? That sounds like the best possible solution to me because it means that you can easily drive the bike no matter what while aiming/looking in any direction... And such a key configuration would feel very natural to the player.

It's the same code as the DNF2013 bike (although I vastly preferred that to RR's because I could mouse aim)

you steer the bike with the strafe keys, and if you hit the melee key it unlocks your view so you can turn and look with the mouse independently of the bike (which sounds like what you're describing anwyay)

To be honest I think it would be better if you drove the bike with WASD (A and D to steer left/right), while having freelook with the mouse all the time, with the weapon and without needing to press any key.

As for your train level, personally I recommend doing 'more' with it. Like for instance having a 2nd train alongside the first one that you have to jump back&forth (a Blood map in the episode RATM did that and it's really cool); or having other vehicules come next to the train (probably possible with extra coding; also would it be possible to have like a flying ship come next to the train using TROR) ?

I see your point, but it's hard to maintain precision because ultimately the mouselook isn't really precise or fine enough to allow the kind of control that a modern game could, so it gets really difficult to turn a lot whilst you're looking around with the gun. I equate that with having both hands on the handles and concentrating versus driving one handed and shooting with the other.

Train level is kinda oudated I agree, but it's a very short minor mission rather than a main stage that takes like a couple of minutes. I want to do a train level with a dynamic skybox so that the train appears to actually be travelling somewhere (that would be for EP3 though)

I got the sprite from Doom Center and it can be easily changed if necessary or if someone can come up with a better sprite. For now I just want the bike to usable, functional, and easy to edit and incorporate in other mods.

Won't take too long. I have plans to make a demo map like "Born to be Wild" from Eduke32's Duke Nukem Forever mod to showcase the map, with Doomguy escaping from a crumbling city, jumping on rooftops, fighting biker zombies, and stuff like that, but it will take too long, and I will post a public test version sooner. I'm thinking about posting it here tomorrow. I just need to finish the crash mechanics.

Meanwhile, I increased the starting speed, and added third person sprites.

Theres one called satanic redux that i absolutely love but never see mentioned. It makes you a necromancer who can raise corpses as allies and possess monsters, among other evil sorcerer powers. It also replaces a lot of standard monsters randomly with different variations so you might get a different experience every time. Eviltech's first episode plays pretty well. Things get a little impossible past that, though.

The short of the matter is I wanted to see if the reverse frames enemy sprites do (i.e. KATNX0Z0) would work on weapon sprites as well.

I really don't understand how someone can play Doom over and over again, sorry. First time I played it was back in '94 and I was blown away like everyone else. Played through all the originals (Ultimate, II and Final) on UV, then went back and did Doom on Nightmare. Now it's impossible for me to play it. It's just so fucking meh I can sleep through it while playing it. Meanwhile I still love the fuck out of Quake.

I just don't understand how anybody can't reach a satiation point with Doom when its mechanics are so fucking slow (excluding your movement before autists go full sperg) and predictable. Now let's compare it to Doom I:
-The first map has a few good secrets, and really gets you in dommin' mood by putting a few bodied of your dead friends here and there.

For those that don't know, Trey Azagthoth, founder and guitarist of Morbid Angel, released a map back in 2008-9, I can't remember, and oh boy

-Flats as texture walls. Fucking everywhere
-You MUST enable jumping. There's a lot of places where you will get stuck if you don't know where you're going
-Arachnotrons FUCKING EVERYWHERE. You will end up hating the firing sound and you won't be willing to play any other map for the rest of the day.
-There's this one part (you will know when you reach that area, if you're STILL willing to play that shit) where not even jumping will help you to access. There's tons of enemies, four unreachable Pain Elementals included, which you won't be able to kill UNLESS you enable freelook. Yay.
-Decorations are used to block the road. Not that is a bad thing, but unfortunately Trey went full 1995.
-Even if you cheat to get a computer map, you will STILL be clueless, guess why? Hidden linedefs

Not to mention, poor Trey included the IWAD in the zip back when he released the thing (it's still on the band's website), which, as you people might guess it, immediately tainted him in the eyes of the one grumpies we all know. There's a PWAD release somewhere in /idgames done by a fan, though.

tl;dr - Trey Azagthoth's map is just plain bad. It doesn't even qualify as "so bad it's good", it's just plain shit.

I usually aim it above some enemies so it travels as far as it can and cleared out some slaughter maps with just one or two shots.

I'm considering just changing the function to a typical ranged damaging wave, a la Shadow Warrior. I'm fining a lot of the pushing and shoving either doesn't do much or does way too fucking much, depending on how many enemies there are.
It'd also be nice to have an alternate option for range aside from your currently equipped gun, aye?

I just think the repulsion effect kind of makes it much too powerful at the moment.
Since it will stop an entire enemy assault from the front for just two bars and travels infinitely you can really just devastate anything.
It doesn't hurt too much unless they are walls or stairs for enemies to bump into, at which point it will pretty much kill anything.
