Are there any more games like this around?

Code of Princess 3DS plays exactly like Guardian heroes

Guardian Heroes late game is garbage.

I agree, it becomes a lot of "wet noodle smacking one enemy over and over" in the later half. Except the golden silver route which is super short if I recall.

I love the game but fighting waves upon waves upon waves upon waves of enemies on the same screen gets boring really fast. I wish the game had more boss fights.

overrated as fuck.

One of the most overpraised games in existence next to its equally flawed spiritual successor on the sega saturn. The kind of design they opted for in both those games has hardly been used outside of those games and although the boss fights were amazing, the actual game outside of those sections is immensely tedious.

says you
some of the best gaming moments in my life were had in the Earth Spirit level, beating the shit out of legions of Ropers. I remember spamming the Undead Hero's berzerk command hoping for the random chance he would unleash that insane explosion and give me a few seconds breather.

the graphics were bright and colorful. the fighting system was fun and a deeper than most beat 'em ups. the music was fantastic, and having branching storylines that actually had different plots and endings (in a beat 'em up!!) was amazing.

even today, few games actually have diverging plotlines that ACTUALLY DIVERGE.

Gunstar Heroes

pick one. Also I have no idea what you're talking about. Guardian Heroes was far far better, but once again my point was- what other games have aped this style since either of those titles?

Yup. None.

Not the OP, but Advance Guardian Heroes doesn't really work well on the GBA. The minimal controls on the GBA limits the amount of moves you can pull off, the frame rate isn't the greatest, and it doesn't really feel like a Treasure game. Often at times it feels really dull and uninteresting to play. I mean, it's an alright game, but I'd rather play something like Metroid Fusion instead.

This was the best console game in the history of man you plebs. A beatem up with fighting game controls, coop, multiple paths, RPG trappings, and DAT replay ability. In 1996 faggots on a home console. It blew everything away and still does.
