OK, who played this game, what do you think about it, how long did it take you to play it and where did you get stuck. Also, I know the second game sucked but was there a third game? I would love to know about it if there was.

There wasn't a third game, but Dual Hearts for the PS2 is a spiritual successor as it also involved going inside people's dreams unlike Alundra 2 and it shares a lot of the same staff

Yo /vr/, I picked up Alundra 2 at the local thrift store. I never played the first Alundra. Should I hold off until I play the first one, or are the games considered stand-alone?

They are stand alone. The only thing Alundra 2 has in common with its name sake is just being made by the same people

>> No.1865545

Dual Hearts huh? Thanks for the info. I'll check it out.

no it didn't. it was just a completely different game and should have been titled something different. as far as action-RPG's on the PSX go, you could do alot worse than Alundra 2.

>> No.1865568

LOL! I knew that would get someone pissed off. You're right though, I shouldn't have said sucked. It was nothing like the original though, so for me it was a big let down.

I saw my both dad and my cousin play through the game. The game was lengthy with annoying puzzles, but the atmosphere and soundtrack were superb.

I really loved this game when it came out but it's too hard for me to play now. My family was going through a pretty rough patch back then and I played it a lot to escape what was going on in my real life. Whenever I try to play it now the music just takes me straight to Feelsville. It's a great game but for me it's unfortunately associated with too many sad memories. It probably doesn't help that the story is super tragic too... Anyways, carry on, good sirs. Ultrafag out.

Hope you've played Landstalker, OP. Same developers, it's more of the same but with less fluff. Almost the perfect game.

Hardest Legend of Zelda game ever made.

What exactly is so egregious about Alundra 2 that make people hate it so much? Does it really have a lot of problems or is more a case of 'it's a good game, just not a good Alundra game'

Actually bought this but whatever I was expecting at the time just didn't hook me. I might give it another try though

man I loved Landstalker to hard back in the day but I was too young and too unskilled to survive the last dungeon. it was a really beautiful game that gave you the sense of being on an epic adventure - not to save the world for fucking once - but to find an amazing treasure.

One day I will try to beat it..one day..

You definitely should. It's a lovely game all around.

Assholes in Alundra, ranked

1. Ronan
2. Zorgia

That's it

Maybe you got stuck at first? Some of the early puzzles are tricky. But I have such good memories of this game. Zelda comparisons are obvious, but frankly they are two different games in one major aspect: story. Meaning, Alundra has one, and a lot of dialogue, characters you care about and unexpected twists. Zelda is an out-and-out adventure, whereas Alundra is definitely RPG and adventure.
