Never played a master system game so I decide to give it a go and holy shit the games I played for awful, How can the nes shine so much and this suck?

Action Fighter:Was alright
Double Dragon:Shit
Forgotten Worlds:Shit
Ghouls 'n Ghosts:Shit
Ninja Gaiden:Shit(I enjoy the nes version)
Out Run:Shit
Sonic1+2:Really enjoy the level design
Streets of Rage1+2:Shit but I prefer 2 over 1
Wonder Boy III:I'm really enjoying myself

>> No.1861050

So the megadrive versions of sonic are not the same as the genesis ones?

>> No.1861061

>>1861050
No. They're ports of the Game Gear games.

Kind of interested in trying a mega drive out now.

Did you played the Alex Kidd games? Shinobi World is pretty awesome in my book.

>>1861050
Nope. They're identical to the Game Gear versions though. I think SMS Sonic 2 even predated the Genesis version.

>> No.1861070

>>1861061
Wait. I meant the master system sonic games are the ports. The mega drive is just the genesis in regions outside of north america.

>> No.1861081

I'm not that familiar with the master system but here are some games I enjoyed:

Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Alex Kidd in Shinobi World
Black Belt
Zillion (Best game I've played on the system)
Penguin Land (haven't played much of it but looks awesome)

Have you tried any of the following?
The Alex Kidd series
Fantasy Zone 1 & 2 (and Maze)
Kenseiden
Quartet
Shinobi (the original one)
Phantasy Star
The other Wonder Boy games
Zillion

the main thing the ms had going for it was arcade ports, and you can find better versions of just about all of them on other consoles or just use mame nowadays

The Hokuto no Ken version was better.

Renegade:Could be fun but the controls are iffy, punch when I want to kick and vie-versa, not sure how to turn
Master of combat:simple but alright, Could be fun with a friend.
Master of Darkness:It's Castlevania in London, Love it.

I've never played it, but I've heard Golden Axe Warrior is good, but very expensive.

Sure, I can agree with that.

The light gun games are good

Especially rescue mission.

Aztec adventure is pretty good.
Zillion is good, but the room codes are sort of tedious. Set them up as 1-9 and a-f or whatever they are so you're not always writing down the squiggles... Can't think of the easier way to wrote ot down.

Wrote down the codes on the first screen you need them. And watch the demo, botbshows you where a power up is.

transbot, spy vs spy.

Ys but in sure there's a better version.

Ms really does have few games
Nintendo was first to market and had a monopoly on developers.

Grew up with master system.

I personally liked the light phaser games, emulation really takes the fun out of it. Other than that:

>>1861089
This guy's games

Choplifter
Ghostbusters
Zillion 2 (first zillion is a must play for the system imo)
That goddamn snail game. People that have it built in know what the fuck I'm talking about.

Most of the good stuff were ports.

This is what I actually memorized them as when I was a kid.

>M
>Heart
>Backpack
>Walkway
>Candy Apple
>Fountain
>Flat boobs
>Butt
>Glasses
>Skull (if you enter it in 4 times you suicide)

My mind was absolutely fucking BLOWN when I found out the symbols are their corresponding number doubled and flipped towards eachother. Made it so much easier to play than fucking thinking "candy apple" and bullshit.

Golvelius is pretty cool, Miracle Warriors okay.

Did you know that if you get a Everdrive MD or other Genesis flash cart you can also play the entire Master System library in native mode? Also nearly the entire Sega MarkIII library, which is pretty much just the Japanese Master System but there are a lot of games for it that are not available for Master System and largely overlooked since the converters to play them on Master Systems or Genesis are hard to come by and unreliable.

I thought it was a good port, it may not be 100% like the arcade, but they ported it to the best of their ability and it is easier to beat for a kid with their console than it is on the Mega Drive port

Depends on the version, some had Alex Kidd, Hang-On, Safari Hunt, Sonic the Hedgehog, and probably a couple more. I think they had it where Hang-On and Safari Hunt were both accessible on the same system.

>> No.1861524

>>1861476
you can still access the snail game its built into everyone. some of them its the only game it has built in but others if you hold a certain button when you power it on it will go to snail maze

>> No.1861909

>>1861462
>>1861476
To be more precise, Snail Maze is found in the first commercial bios(1.3) where no other game is built in(if no buttons are pressed, it just shows an instruction screen), in Bios 2.4(Both Hang-On and Safari Hunt built in the when no cart is inserted), and in 3.4(Only hang-On is built in).
Instead, 2.1(first Japanese commercial bios), 4.4(Missile Defense 3-D built in), Sonic The Hedgehog one, Alex kidd in Miracle World ones(both the internetional version and South Korea ones) did NOT have Snail Maze built in.

In all of the versions having Snail Maze built in, is it accessible pressing up+1+2 on controller 1 on boot up WITHOUT pressing any other button(i.e. on controller 2).
the only exception is Bios 1.3, where the up+1+2 button combination can be pressed at any given time while the instructions screen is showing, and pressing other buttons together with the combination doesnt prevent it from starting.

Sorry dude, but this version is way better than the NES one. It even has two player mode intact.

>> No.1862106

>>1862095
It also has crappier gameplay thanks to floaty jumps, unnatural hit detection and fucked up inputs for all your moves that forces you to adopt a hit and run strategy for every enemy if you ever wish to beat it in one life. But I guess playing a crappy version of Double Dragon with a friend is better than playing a decent version alone.

Ah, I'm glad I'm not the only one who did this, it's like some kind of Rorschach test.
For me they were :

1 : M
2 : Heart
3: 8
4: Money sign (They use this sign in Alex Kidd)
5 : Helicopter
6 : Fountain
7 : Man's legs
8 : Infinity
9 : Woman's legs
0 : 0

I felt stupid years later when I discovered the logic behind those symbols
