Ever played a game a long time ago but you just can't remember what it's called? This is the place to ask.

Starting off with the game I'm looking for
>gameboy game
>2 word title, with quest as the second word
>the picture on the cartridge had a sword, helmet and some other things on a green background
>played like a zelda game
>have to fight an ogre inside the entrance to a castle
>had to climb a really huge ladder near a waterfall to talk to an old guy
>had to fight a hydra
>pretty sure there was a merchant next to a rope and plank bridge
>secret rooms that had to opened with bombs
>Sort of oppressive atmosphere, music was generally slower paced and I just have an uneasy feeling when thinking back to it
I never did beat it, because I got stuck after the hydra because I had no idea what I was supposed to do afterwards.

Very old game, first thing I ever played on a PC

You were a lion or a lioness. 3rd person
Its was 2-3D, aka Doom
it was a survival game I think, you had to eat and drink (or more like, jump in water) to stay alive in the Savannah. Bulls n Zebras everywhere.

I remember it being fuckhard and the only things I could actually catch were tourists.

I've got one bugging me for years.

It's an RPGish game for the DreamCast, I think you're revived or something at the beginning, the currency or something is called Mithril, you make it out through a graveyard on me first minutes of playthough and then go fight some Goblins to liberate the town that acts as your base the rest of the game.

I remember enjoying the hell out of it but really can't remember a thing

Oh, Mithril also looked sorta like this, it was a low-poly game

There's a game I remember seeing in a magazine a while back. It looked like it was some kind of action platformer for the PS1 (though it could be another system, I can't remember), and you played an anthropomorphic character and at the end of each level you fought a different anthropomorphic character. They all looked like they did martial arts or something and I can't for the life of me remember what that game was called.

For the longest time I tried to remember what this game I played as a kid was.
The only thing I remembered was that it had something to do with ninjas, and that the first stage was set in a forest.

The game turned out to be Kage no Densetsu. Found it while watching a Game Center CX episode.

It's a lot different (and worse) than what a remember. It seemed a lot darker to me.
Though it's still a pretty fun game, once you get used to the controls.

I just wanted to share that. Move on.

So it's an Asteroids spinoff.
Old PC game, played it on Win98 I think.
You have a choice of different ships with different stats, and they all have a special attack if you charge your shot, such as a small timed bomb. (I think that one was yellow and more round than the others.)
It would begin with a GIANT asteroid being like exploded (maybe with a big glowing crack at first?) and stuff. There was debris, powerups in the shape of colored capsules floating around (some like shot a single bullet in a circle around you and stuff which was purple.)
After you've completed a level a big wormhole warp thing opened up and brought you to the next level.
I thought it'd be easy to find but there's a lot of Asteroids spin offs...

Here's an old game i played as a kid while having almost no idea how to play it.

The release date is probably early 90's.
You are situated on some sort of space ship, or space station with scientific equipment.

The "goal" is to grow an embryo inside a vat. Most of the gameplay consists of a screen which displays the embryo, and a bunch of sliders to the left of it. With these sliders you can regulate the temperature and intake of different elements. You can also edit the DNA, which is supposed to do something.
If you play with the sliders too much, the embryo can die. If it survives, you can then go and look at your result, which is usually just a picture of a human, possibly with some limb replaced with animal limbs

> Windows 9x
> You connected roads to make a taxi travel from one end to the other.

Four player characters, a fat guy, a short guy, a girl and an old man. Each had different abilities like in SMB2US.
Fat guy moved very, very slowly and couldn't jump too high but was able to bust certain walls down, avoiding the need for many keys.
Short guy was very, very fast and jumped the highest.
Girl could float a short bit like the princess from SMB2US.
Old man could shoot fireballs.
They were locked in some haunted house. The player had to find keys to open doors to move around the house to find the exit.

Came gratis with a graphics card, late 90's.

It was a shoot 'em up going vertically with a CO-OP mode for two players, I think one of the players could even use mouse to control his craft (one blue space ship and one red).
It was situated in some sort of SCI-FI setting in space for the first 2? levels and then went on some planet?

The second level was still in space, but it featured X pattern constructions which occasionally had turrets on the cross sections.

One of the falling weapon upgrades gave you small target-seeking missiles that were separate of the main weapon (so you shot the basic, but also let off a small missile each interval, it wasn't a weapon in it's own).

Alright, will give this a whirl.

Was a DOS game from early 90's, it was turn based and you could choose an animal to control. Each animal had its place in a food chain and you had a map to cross with animals higher then you in the food chain in the way. Was a grid map.

I seem to recall the top of the foodchain was a bear (easy difficulty) and the lowest was a rabbit (hardest). Goal was to cross the map without being eaten.

There was a lighthouse/windmill by the sea. There may or may have not been a girl sitting on a bench. For some reason, I don't remember there being much music in the game.

I have a question as well.

Years ago I played a top view shooter arcade game, with an auto advancing scroll.
It was about a spaceship flying over a desert riddled with oasis and militar bases, from where you had to rescue some tiny astronauts.
At a point of the game you could find a secret astrouaut rescue point that spawned infinite astronauts, so you could fill your ship way over the normal limit as soon you kept the ship on top of the spawning point until the scroll made it dissapear.
At the end over every stage the little astronauts walked outside of your ship and you were awarded points for each of them.

The game's name had the word "Mission" as part of the title, but that's all what I can remember.

This is a game I remember from my childhood. I was at a friend's birthday party, and she had just gotten a new NES game. Pink cartridge, probably unlicensed. It was called Care Bears, or My Little Pony, or some other girly franchise that was popular in the 80's. The game itself had nothing to do with the titular characters, though. It was actually a first person adventure game, along the lines of Uninvited or Shadowgate. You could play as two characters. One that was a generic Dudebro McFootball, and the other was a goth chick. I think they were supposed to be brother and sister. You started off in their house; you could go into Goth Girl's bedroom and she had some Marilyn Manson posters on the walls, and spiderwebs and stuff. As a kid I thought that was pretty nifty. Eventually you end up on this alien spaceship or something, and a robot kills you. We could never figure out how to get past the robot.

Sound familiar to anyone?

I have several I really, really want to find again.

>Game 1 (Naked Homosexual JRPG)
The first one is an RPG. I played Dragon Quest for the GBC years later and was reminded strongly of this game. You start out talknig to a king or something, and he sends you on a quest. As soon as you leave the castle random battles start but they are all naked men. Naked gnome things, dancing cherubs, the most common enemy was a guy in a trenchcoat that flashed you. They came in groups and the combat was turn based. I present to you the world's worst MS Paint drawing of how I remember this. Don't think about why I want to know what this is called.

>Game 2 (Mystery Mystery)
This one was all text based, and really old. You played the entire thing by inputting commands with lines of text. It came on a cassette tape and you had to sit and wait a while for it to load the entire thing every time you played. I think you played as a policeman trying to solve either a homicide or a missing person's case. I remember the package came with a map because you had to type in exact locations when you hailed a cab. It was extremely frustrating as a small child.

>Game 3 (Ants. Not SimAnt)
It was a game where, I think, you were trying to kill all the ants. There was like a topdown view or something and the ants were on a grid. You had tools like a bucket of water and something else? I think if you didn't act fast enough they multiplied. I ignored the rules and mostly just tried to make house shapes with pet ants in them. I can't remember much else.

>Game 4 (School Software One)
There were two games from elementary school I'd love to try now that I'm older. One was on Macs, no idea if there was a Windows version, where you got to choose between paying as a girl or a boy. One had a skateboard and the other had rollerblades I think. You helped people find things and solve small myseteries. There was a town map you used to get between places, but the setting itself was interactive, to a degree.

There's a 2D top down space sim/RPG I played a long time ago, and recently I've been combing abandonware sites looking for it. The version I played was a demo, and ended just as things were getting interesting. I'd like to be able to go back and see what I missed.

I remember it opened with you (some kind of bounty hunter) in a white ship. You're hailed by an alien you claims to be a scout from a nearby system. He calls you ugly, you can talk to him for a bit, then he fucks off. You then find a mark you're hunting, who claims he was set up, then you can either believe him and save him by teleporting him onto your ship before blowing up his to collect the bounty or you can just kill him. Then you fuck around for a bit, travel to some planets, warp to a few different systems, then the demo ends as you're about to leave the system cluster that's surrounded by some kind of barrier.

It's frustrating to remember so many details about the art and the plot but not the damn name.

It's a PS1 game, turn based rpg, start's off with an animated cutscene of a naked blue haired chick walking through snow(?) but not like super nsfw or anything (as far as I can remember.) After said cutscene, it switches to another scene of a dude and a little animal-thing stuck in some rocks (maybe a stone tower?) and eventually free themselves, after which they go outside to a desert place and fight some monsters, in turn-based gameplay. Sorry for the vagueness.

Welp, wasn't the one I was looking for. I won't even elaborate more because I got really shaky memories about it.

Here this instead: a DOS pinball game, which kinda had this weird color combination of white for the background and purple/green (don't joke about it) for the outlines. Pretty sure it was EGA but I couldn't tell for sure, I also think it had music but don't quote me on this either. I played it like every single day.

Hi /vr/,
years ago I've played a really cool sort of experimental Windows game.
I would be thankful of any clues you guys have.
Here is what I remember:
>not really old, but retro style
>Windows (I may have had Vista at that time)
> freeware (indie game, I think)
> gameplay alternates between and combines(!) various retro game titles such as space invaders, asteroids, breakout, tetris, pacman (or maybe even zelda, I'm not really sure about the games in speciffic though I'm sure the first two are in)
> the game feels and looks "glitchy" and "crashy" (and I think the name had something to do with that) much like in FEZ
> repeatedly throughout the game, there are "glitches" where the graphic gets fucked up and the player character as well as the enemies get swapped out with another pc/enemy. example: space invaders aliens change into breakout block or asteroids (pc and enemy usually don't match)
> pic related (not actual footage, it's a quick photoshop edit)

any clues are appreciated

>There was a lot of informational tidbits about animals and you could click on them to make them play their sounds

Holy shit I remember that game.
On the topic of educational games I don't know if the one I'm thinking of is retro because I played it in around '03 but it was a computer game that was supposed to teach touch typing and had a bunch of mascot characters including a cat, I believe. After every lesson there was a minigame, one of which was a crane game and I think there was a whack-a-mole but I'm not sure.

It was a "strategy" rpg, one of those late 90's games where you'd play with your characters looking at them from the above (and it'd play exactly like a regular strategy game).
The game took place in an island, with a medieval fantasy setting. You started off with just one warrior, then you'd go on to find a sorceress, then a paladin, then a wizard.
You could buy armors and weapons for your guys and hire mercs to fight alongside you.
The sorceress was a qtpi

I'm pretty sure it was all before or ON windows 2000

1:
You play as an alien and I believe you have to fix your spaceship, theres an fat alien inside giving you the missions and a head alien you often call Egg head or something, Gameplay was just 3D and weapon power ups (or different weapons) were stored between 2 magnets like floating in between, you end up in some army base and have to escape and stuff

the other game:

2:
You are a car in a open world style game that plays in the far future (Neo-Tokyo perhaps) with all these lights from the buildings and stuff
You can shoot 2 lasers from the front of you and can travel high speed over roads and through tunnels and stuff, more then that I can't remember. also 3D..

First game:
Definately NES,
Some kind of RTS combined with RPG.
My biggest memory was of peasants fighting knights in a turn based environment.
I know it's very vague.

Second game:
Also medevel, also nes, perhaps genesis.
I recall choosing a knight or king or something and storming castles. And having to sword fight rival knight.
It's hard as many balls.
Vaguely recall a map of England (or other islandish nation)

I know both are very vague. It's a shot though.

If you didn't pick them up, they would blink out and respawn randomly in the maze. The "two laser" weapon was on of the best. I'm remember playing a top-down (oblique projection like in 2D FF games) RPG/adventure game for MS-DOS in the late '90s that had primitive but smoothly animated graphics and some crude humor. IIRC one of the girls in the starter town either said she'd "marry" you or outright offered to perform sexual acts on you for a fixed sum of money. That game showed JRPG and Zelda influences in how its world looked but it was NOT Knights of Xentar. The game had a real "garage dev" feel to it, which is a major reason I want to find it; the best I can compare it to is that of some European Amiga games and 32k demoscene games. It was, however, definitely for the PC. I got it on a shareware CD-ROM.

Any ideas what this game could have been?

>> No.1907190

It was an old shoot em up game, up to two players I think, you flew modern style advanced airplanes from bottom to top of the screen in top-down view, with stats up to 100 for ammo, fuel and guided missiles, at least I think all 3 were out of 100. Also you had a charged super weapon which I think ate your ammo, can't remember it well at all, it was a wavy white beam thicker than your whole plane. The said superweapon could be acquired to be fired at all times through weapon upgrades as a normal weapon, all upgrades dropped from hot air balloons I think or maybe blimps, you could shoot the drop to decide what it is, like drops as oil drum shoot it once for ammo, twice for missiles and after a few shots it became this blue flickering ball that upgraded your weapons, remember the best one being dual red wavy lasers. If you tried to pick up a weapon upgrade when you had the best possible weapon you would get a new plane with all things refilled but revert to the worst weapon.

The levels I remember had airplanes as main enemies on the first stage I think and a big plane boss, then bigass battle ships later, then a tank themed level, probably not in that order I barely remember it.

I really can't remember what platform it was even for because I got into emulators really early so it could have been almost anything, probably pc or arcade.

Help me with this guys:

You are a typical Grey alien and you're stuck on earth because you need to repair your spaceship, you get orders from your Commander Alien hologram you call Egg head or something like that, and theres a fat alien inside the ship who stays there and does the repairs..

I believe the actual gameplay is third person (Might be first person too) and is in 3D, you have your space gun which you can shoot people with and I believe most area's are played in army bases or areas with alot of government soldier people.

Alot of dialogs before each mission and stuff (Though I'm not sure if the game works with levels as you progress a story)

It's not aliens vs predator or "Aliens" game from that series

Also I'm pretty sure all dialogs were with 2D sprites and their heads

also think it was in the win 95/98 era of games.. (Might be win 2000 max though)
