This man is a shining example of humanity. Someone who is not afraid to be embarrassed or show his weaknesses because he loves to entertain and make people happy. His spirit shines through in everything he does.

With the passing of Robin Williams I feel that it's important to recognize these types of people because they won't be around forever. It's so rare to find someone who can do no wrong and draw no hatred.

God bless, Arino. I have no doubt that this man's perseverance has inspired thousands across the world to keep going.

Spoilers at how episodes end. If you watch episode 2 it may say "oh he lost/won episode 1!".

A lot of episodes are really good, there are some bad ones but it's best to just watch all of them and skip the ones you don't like, and watch them later when you have a kachou deprivation.

If possible, watch in order, basically. The Piratebay torrent in the OP has almost every episode.

So there was a live challenge held in Odaiba on 8/16. Anyone else in Japan go? Despite being hot as hell, it was a fun little 40 minute show.

Some highlights

-The game played was Battletoads, and the challenge was to clear stage 10.
-Arino lost the race twice in the first part before calling two kids up to help; neither made it past the gas in the first area.
-A guy was called up but Arino kicked him off stage after the guy said he didn’t have confidence.
-The last helper was a guy who claimed to have beaten Battletoads before. He took out the electricity shooters, but died when he tried to duck under the gas.
-Takahashi showed up with the headband Arino wore in the original episode, but he still ran out of continues.
-AD Yanai came out and revealed another famicom already at stage 10.
-Arino was never able to finish the third race, and Kan declared the challenge a failure.
-Nakayama came out at the end and sang the English version of “last Continue.”
-Inoue is still doing his Beat Takeshi impression.

Uh, that was during season 1, they also played a PS2 game as well. Since season 2, they haven't touched anything newer than PSX/N64. That was also when they changed from focusing on a company for an episode, and started focusing on the game challenges.

I've got a few that made me love the show.
Sonic the Hedgehog because his interactions with the AD, and how every time he got a game over he cringed at the "SEGA!".
Punch-Out!!! was funny as hell.
Metroid was great. I liked how it was all a great quest for him to see if the rumor was true.
I always enjoy seeing him tackle hard games, like the Ninja Gaiden games, Castlevania 3, Golgo 13, Prince of Persia, Adventure Island, and the Ghosts N Goblins series. Those are always worth a watch.

It was more than just that though. All he did was World 1, part of 2, part of one level of 7, then 8. And we only got to see small parts of only a few of those levels outside of World 1 and 8.

He was also way too relaxed, probably because they were at that inn instead of the usual place. Six hours in and he's only part way through World 2? I don't even understand how that can happen.

Then they just gave him the strategy guide to thumb through even though the game isn't really that complex, so he knew how to warp to the end. The game itself is amazing, but we got so little of it. I'd love to see him challenge it again, it really deserves more than it got from that episode.

When localizing names, the flavour of the titles should be preserved as well as the accuracy. For example, "鋼の錬金術師" lit: Steel Achemist was translated as Fullmetal Alchemist, accurate and cool. Attack on Titan is just dumb. Also, the original title was Advancing Giants, not Attacking Titans.

Master Takahashi as wife material definitely tops the list, followed by Nakayama, Toujima, and Inoko MAX.

Nakayama is just so well-developed as a character (I know he's a real person, but you know what I mean), Toujima is the original bro, and Inoue just seems like a pretty cool guy. I liked that dumb corner they did from his apartment.

I don't think I've disliked any of the ADs.

Yes, you're doing something wrong. The Direct Download at least should only contain the single episode. The torrents are full seasons because torrents of single episodes would be inconsistently seeded and wouldn't stay alive as easily as a single torrent per season, and it's not really that hard to deselect every episode except the one you want, and then you have the luxury of just selecting another one instead of having to go back to the site.

They're literally the same sounds, yes, but one is hiragana, the other is katakana. For some reason, I can only find reference to boke (as in the comedy role) in katakana, never in hiragana, hence my confusion (although it should be asked why you're pasting the terms in hiragana/katakana anyway when romaji is a thing that exists, but that's another discussion entirely).

I've lurked in GCCX threads before and checked out an episode before. I found it to be pretty boring and didn't quite see the appeal.

With this thread, I decided to check out OP's Super Mario Land video and give it a second chance, and I enjoyed it a great deal. I think I see the appeal and the charm that people like about the show that I didn't see the first episode I watched.

Reading through, people seemed to like the Go By Train episode, so I watched that and liked it a great deal. Then I watched Pilotwings and liked it even more. I think I might be a fan now.

Episodes often spoil earlier ones (e.g. he lost last time but this time, will we win?!) and there's often a mini-continuity in between games like megaman 1, 2, 4, and so on; there's ADs that stick around for the whole season and if you just watch random episodes you won't really get to know them.

if you really wanna watch the whole show i'd recommend against skipping straight to episodes that interest you. look forward to the battletoads episode, rather than just skipping to it and then going back.

There are also lots of great episodes that are not series.
For example the screenshot I've posted here >>1887043 is from 'Sushi He', which only has a single other episode in the same format.

also, yeah i agree on princess tomato, I actually rented that one time as a kid. It was one of those games you see at the video store and it bugs you for months and even years everytime you see it until you finally just decide to get it out of the way. The English announcer gets a lot more flack than he deserves. The guy was basically given the script and they let him read it through once and used his dry run. The guy does try his best to add 'umpf' to what he's talking about. (The Wings of Madola was one of his better episodes.)
