This game deserved more credit than it got. It was the first 3d stealth game beating Metal Gear Solid by a couple of months.

I only remembered being really disappointed by it.

Is it worth picking up now?

Both games on PS1 are awesome, I prefer the first one though. IT LOOKS LIKE YOU CHOOSE... THE WRONG PARTY TO CRAAAASH

It's short, and not story based.
It has ten levels with a boss usually at the end.
If you were undetected throughout a level, you get an item that can aid you in other levels.
One of the best parts of the game has to be the soundtrack, in my opinion.

It was an amazing game and one of my all time favorites, but it was easy as shit and glitchy as fuck.
MGS1 is generally preferred by most people simply because it was more challenging, better designed and had almost no glitches (none that I've ever heard of anyway).

And let's be honest here' MGS1 IS a better game than Tenchu.

Then again, I sometimes think that I'm literally the only person alive who can differentiate "I like this" from "this is quality".

Just because I personally like something does not make it better than something else. I seriously like Tenchu more than MGS, but MGS is just a better game. Simple as that.

Game is pretty good, but I'm just too bad so it's not really fun. Must be a blast if you actually git gut.

>disappointing.

It a universal rule : if there is ninjas whatever the support or medium is, it become automatically a God tier entertainment .

if you disagreed with this rule richard harrison will hunt you to claim your life and declare himself the champion of the ninjas.

I can`t even remember how ofter I played thru this. I am still playing it along with Tenchu 2 and 3.
There is an additional japanese only disc with over 100 missions called Tenchu Shinobi Hyakusen. Those mission were created with the editor of the Tenchu Shinobi Gaisen, which is an extended version of the western release.

I only have played Tenchu 2 and I didn't find it easy at all. In fact I used to get lost during the level and also the boss always butt fucked me so hard I run out of itens pretty fast.

Is Tenchu 2 harder or do I suck playing it?

>> No.1840564

Yeah, T2 is harder than T1. Actually, the only complaint I could had about the first title is about it's difficulty. It's not on Castlevania SOTN or SMW level of easiness but still an easy game.

Some women gave me Tenchu 2 for free because she thought it wasn't worth anything, can I play the second one without having had played the first one?

>> No.1840925

I remember making some badass levels in Tenchu 2 editor
My setting was the one with snow and underwater caves, and with finding the 3 scrolls mission
I remember making some very well hidden underwater passages for one of the scrolls
For the second scroll I would put it in front of the boss, and make the boss walk over it so he would grab it, so to get the scroll you had to kill him

As for Tenchu 1, I only had the japanese version, which has 2 less levels and no armor
Also I heard you use a cheat code to use a editor, but it never worked for me, I guess because it was the japanese version

I remember when I was in the 3rd grade I begged my parents to get me samurai swords for Christmas. So they did, and when they where away my older bother and I would play "Tenchu" at the house. Basically one of us would be the ninja and the other would be the guard. It was all fun in games until one day my bother cut me right in the eyelid. I remember screaming "I can't see! I can't see!" and my older bro just looked at me and said, "Well, I guess I won..."

Anyways, yeah, Tenchu was a great game.

Ummm, what parents would give their kids actual (well, of course shitty) fucking swords with blades you could hurt yourselves with? You give your kids plastic toys or at best those bokken wooden training swords.

I'm not bad at you or your brother because kids are just usually too dumb to live by nature but and I'm not the best parent, but rule one is you don't give your kids shit they can kill eachother with.

I fucking love MGS but the sheer amount of cutscenes alone make well aware of why many people wouldn't like it and could prefer something like Tenchu. It's just that I have some kind of godly level of patience and love of goofy shit and homoerotic subtext that it knows how to strike just right.

Did you actually play this when it first came out? How old were you? I was around 11 or 12 when my cousin and I rented it from Blockbuster...I find it pretty fucking hard to believe anyone could have been disappointed with this back then, especially if you were really into ninjas as a kid like a lot of guys around my age.
