BTSX Episode 2 is coming out August 31 (A DAY EARLY!!!) but probably at the last minute because we're lazy. It won't be all techmaps. I promise. There will be a few bugs that might show up because this is doom and shit like overflows happen so easily and we can't catch them all. Visplane overflows are a nightmare.

And it probably won't work with Brutal Doom.

To be BRUTALLY honest, the map is best set for standard doom play. Brutal Doom may be a little different now, but a few of the later BTSX Ep 2 maps may take up to an hour to finish on a blind run, and brutal doom's features when we tested them may make that feel even longer, and turn the gameplay into mush. There's enough action here to not need a mod to enhance it.

To convert a part of a video file:

-ss is the start position in number of seconds, or in hh:mm:ss[.xxx] format. You can get it using your video player (Ctrl-G in MPC-HC).

-vf scale=640:-1 sets the width to 640px. The height will be calculated automatically according to the aspect ratio of the input.
-an disables audio. 4chan will reject your files if they contain audio streams.

Input can be anything, including avi files. not too sure about mp4 files.

Well yeah except for the code defining all actors and actions, the lumps defining texture animations, the mapinfo for non EE/Zdoom related ports, the IWAD maps, the IWAD menu resources and texture and flats, and really anything that isn't the sprites.

The problem is there are ~35 colors that can be replaced in the Doom palette either because they're duplicates/unused or horribly mapped. You need to do this if you want say a real purple range. However doing so you get a bunch of fucked up sprites because they're using those duplicate colors a lot of the time.

In Vanilla this becomes a major issue because you can't just replace the messed up sprites, you have to replace every single sprite or vanilla craps out.

This breaks certain things like Brutal Doom because they replace existing sprites for other things. So like the Imp's gibbing sprites are used for the leap attack for some reason so when loaded with BTSX the imps gib themselves every time they jump at you since it's using the BTSX sprites. You can fix this in your load order and as long as you're playing in OpenGL the PLAYPAL issue won't be there.

Chocolate Doom 2.0 builds different executables for Doom, Heretic, Hexen, and Strife, because the game behaviour is defined (coded) in the executable.

A low sensitivity helps with keeping shots steady once you get used to it. Flick/twitch shooting works sometimes, but you'll do better in the long run if you learn to smoothly track people as you shoot them, like you're aiming a chaingun. In the end it's down to preference, but it's a way to start.

The super shotgun, while having a big spread, is still a weapon you need to be precise with up close.

Oh yeah, ganging up on the nearest best guy/guy with the biggest gun will slow down their kills rate so you can catch up.

I don't mind survival. It's just co-op but with limited respawns so that it's actually challenging. LMS, on the other hand, is Deathmatch somehow made even dumber than it already is. A better PvE analog would be Invasion, which is basically co-op without the need to explore at all. LMS is DM without the need to find weapons, armor, health, powerups, ammo, and even finding other players is discouraged. The best way to play Invasion is to stand back and shoot your strongest weapon until everything dies. The best way to play LMS is to find a comfy hiding place and wait for everyone else to kill each other, then stomp the last guy with your full health, armor, and ammo, which of course is extremely boring, but what choice do you have? I can play on a good coop server for hours. Deathmatch maybe half an hour to an hour, tops. Survival? See, Survival would be more Interesting if they designed maps so that if, say, five people were alive at the midpoint, you could have four people hit switches that allowed the last guy to run in and hit one that opened up soulspheres and a BFG area, or a shortcut that bypasses or helps trivialize a dangerous area. But most mapsets aren't designed with that in mind, they're designed for coop.

So it just comes down to two people running in circles around enemies or firing stuff through doors until one runs into a rocket aimed at another player and dies, blows themself up with their own rockets or simply runs out of health because HardKore No Health Respawning enabled, at which point it basically is no different from single player.
