Here's the thing when it comes to art and craft projects. A large amount of people cannot tell that they're bad. They can readily identify if something else looks great, or if something else looks like absolute shit. But they see their stuff through a rose tinted glass.

It's the mark of someone truly inexperienced who has a little bit of knowledge and know-how, but thinks they know way more than they actually do. The scary thing is, this isn't an uncommon phenomenon. I've seen it many times in many different hobbies and situations.

Yeah, quite the same thing as OP.
But i hacked/reverse engineered the shit out of it, and customized after my needs.

Come on, all OP did was combining multiple devices into one with minimal effort.
I programmed the firmware for the PIC16F1826 in assembly which controls the LCD (unknown QVGA 3.5"), video ADC (TVP5150AM1), powerdown for the audio amp (HT4863MTE) and the LED.
I made a shitload of changes in this device, relocating the connectors from the sides to the bottom, added a custom video connector with extra features and built the video adapter which i made of coaxial cables for best video quality (RGB looks like the 1chip SNES).
I spent most of my free time in the last 4 months to make it perfect.

>> No.1834919

>>1834913
That's not the same thing.
You're taking a portable device and making it... what did you even do to it? Make it less portable?

The OP's image shows a console that was made portable, albeit whoever did it did a shit job.

>The OP's image shows a console that was made portable
Yeah, the stock RDP2 is only portable if have nothing connected to the sides because it's uncomfortable. But that was just a small problem compared to my efforts of improving everything i didn't liked.
But still is modifying the hardware of an mass produced device, in OP's case it was combining multiple devices into one and the way how the device is used.

No i'm not that terrible amateur, this isn't that much hot glue. And it doesn't stick that well to the PCB (i just pull with a little force and it comes off).
I also don't have a another alternative to it, and not securing my modifications would be fatal as the wires move and the stuff could break off during use.
It also helped at assembling, as the wires would come in the way.

What is your problem when skilled people are improving their stuff.
Are you just jealous or retarded?

Just think about it. The possibility if some wire breaks off and makes a shortcut with the battery, if the protection circuits of the battery fails then it could catch fire or even explode. And all that because it didn't secured it because hotglue doesn't look pretty.

Here's the SNES board (also includes power, charging circuits).
The purpose of the 'round' hotglue drips is to reduce the bending of the upper shell which causes the waves you see on LCD screen when you push it, this would happen just by pushing the buttons but the hotglue makes the device more sturdy and solid. So when i press the button with some force then i will not see these waves on the screen.

Smartphones just aren't interesting for me despite of repairing them in my job.

Here's the backside.
Resetbuttons, 50/60 switch, charging port and video standard switches are glued to the lower shell and i used connectors for removing the circuit board completely.
I also didn't had tiny screws which i could used to mount the switches.
There's a additional modern low ESR 820µF 6.3V cap for the main power (on the right) and the PAL subcarrier oscillator circuit along the trap filter for composite (on the left).

And i was thinking to show off my most recent /vr/ related project in the next modding thread.

You know, i'm going to join NesDev and discuss with them the precise differences between this Sufamiclone and the real SNES hardware, also the shitty ass NOAC which failed more test roms than Nestopia.
It runs all my SNES games without any problems.

To be fair, adding SRAM compatibility to games isn't a trivial effort. I wonder if his CV3 hack can work on the battery backed MMC5 boards. That said, I think the VRC6 version of the game should use the SRAM hack also, and then someone needs to hack the title screen to the American one (I'm not a fan of playing a game whose title is Japanese words written in English, and I hate those gaudy, acid induced colors Konami chose), and that will be indisputably best version of the game.
