1833864 No.1833864[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

why are games based on movies always so shitty? why couldn't they be more like aladdin?

>> No.1833868

>>1833864
I had the GBA version of this and didn't know what to do. The PS1 version wasn't awful.

>> No.1833897

Hercules for the PlayStation was God tier.

On a side note:
Why didn't Disney do more with Atlantis? I liked it.

the vast majority of them were made by developers who had no experience making games (just people assembled into a "studio" to make a game for the sake of cashing in on the hype (see also a plethora of rock bottom mascot platformers that tried to cash in on the sonic hype).

>> No.1834492

>>1834489
to add to this, in some cases they just slapped new graphics on the same game multiple times (example being the NES robocop and darkman games).

>> No.1834496

Also, usually these games are developed on a tight schedule to coincide with the movie's release date.

>> No.1834505

>>1834496
Exactly. This is why games like Aladdin and The Lion King -- both released around the time the movies came out on tape -- were actually well done.

aladdin's game adaption was made by different companies. personally, I loved the sega genesis port. that was the one I had growing up.

Because publishers know that no matter what shit they slap together It'll sell based on the licence alone so why bother spending lots of money on development

>Goldeneye 007

Most are shit, but you could say the same thing about video games as a whole.

>> No.1834630

Because any retard will buy a game based off a movie whether they know it's good or not. Because of my brother I'm stuck with several movie licensed titles on my Wii. I'd trade them in but they wouldn't get a lot of credit either so I feel like I'm stuck with them.

Nadia has plenty of fans online. It may not be popular with the /a/ kiddies but it is not a lost, forgotten series. The Genesis game was even translated, if you want to try the game without giving a shit of how well it adapted the license.

I don't even watch anime (slowly trying to get into it, but it's just... off) and from what I heard of it I'd probably hate Eva (I don't really like mopey emo protagonists or pretensions convoluted plots.) I just want some good ol' Michael Bay-style explosion fest.

These enemies from Gunstar Heroes are actually characters from Nadia, Grandis and her henchmen.

They actually made a Quake-style FPS in the Atlantis universe. It was pretty cool, if anything.

AVGN is shit. He's literally called angry video game nerd, and his whole schtick is going off on a dumb rant with lots of faux-angry swearing. Nothing he says is worth listening to; he's just an entertainer.

Developed with time constraints.
Contracted out to lowest bidder.
Movie plot has to be shoehorned into platform genre.
Has to conform with movie plot possibly compromising quality.
Or if they break from plot, people complain it doesn't follow movie.
