Rebind's easier to use. You can bind the alias to any key without having to alter the aliases. Also, I added a handy echo message (only you will see it if online).

Nice map. I liked the way the secrets were structured, especially the nukage river area. A few things:

- I noticed that you were very strict with ammo, which isn't really a bad thing in this case, although it did make getting 100% kills a little annoying. However, consider adding more ammo in secrets or on lower difficulties (I played on UV) since it's easy to run out of ammo in a few areas (one case is if you grab the red key and immediately go to the yellow key area) where it's difficult to get around enemies and get your next ammo pickup. Throwing a berserk pack early on somewhere would fix this easy.

- You use PLAT1 on a 64 unit line a few times. Personally I think cutting off half the texture like that looks really ugly. I'd recommend trying SHAWN2, SHAWN3, or SILVER 1 instead.

- I noticed you often use SUPPORT2 as a border texture. This looks nice in most cases, but sometimes you use it asymmetrically and it looks a bit off. This shows up in the lower ceiling sector where the map start is, where you have the SUPPORT2 border on the left but not the right. I think it would look okay either with or without it, so either remove the one that's there or add a symmetrical one on the right. Same thing in the outdoor nukage area between the lower floor and the raised platform.

- A minor gripe, but backtracking to get back to the yellow key door got a bit tedious, especially because getting 2 of the secrets there requires you to head all the way around through the blue door and teleporter. Maybe add some stairs in the outdoor nukage area up to the platform with the yellow door that appear once you take the teleporter?

Overall, still a pretty cool map. Looking forward to see whatever you make next.

I had some other playtesters give me feedback and I beefed up the ammo slightly from the last time, but I could still probably add a little more.

Not too fond of using SHAWN or SILVER on lifts, but I'm actually just going to add another texture that's a half PLAT1.

The border texture asymmetry thing--I only used them in this level primarily on STARTAN where the geometry wasn't cooperating with texture alignments (due to non-orthogonal room design). In both cases you mentioned, the border is actually "symmetrical" depending on where you look at it from.

Regarding the secrets: The intention is that the player will go through the lift and door secret with the radsuit and keep that open, since that secret stays open. The player is more likely (IMO) to do that and potentially ignore the other secret since they possibly haven't even seen it yet, and will assume the rest of the outside area is dead detailing instead of hiding a teleport and chainsaw. If they do the radsuit secret first, they don't "have to" go through the blue door and teleporter again, they can just go through the radsuit secret again.

However, a solution to this would be to just make the end teleporter from the secret simply port you back to the original yellow key door secret platform instead of into the blue key maze. (When I built the original teleporter it didn't have an exit, and I ended up putting it where I did due to a tagging error and sort of liked it, but this is better.)

I also need a name, so if you have any ideas, pass 'em on.

The plasmatic shrapnel shotgun fails to handle sniper mods properly. Each mod only barely work for it's accuracy. Every other plasmatic shrapnel gets MUCH better acc with two snipers, see pic.

You might also want to check the (exotic) plasma shotgun, it's overcharged variant and the shredder pistol. Not sure if working as intended but a single sniper mod removes all vertical spread for the shotguns and makes shredder 100% accurate.

Removing the vertical spread on the Plasma Shotgun is intended, and the Shredder Pistol is the least 100% accurate thing I've ever seen. It's even less accurate than the what the pistol starts off at.

Maybe do some stuff with counters and dummy powerups? Have it give itself a very short-lived dummy powerup on hitting a surface, and while it has that powerup, it gives itself a dummy item whenever it hits a wall. If it gets more than a certain amount of dummy items before the powerup wears off, give it +NOCLIP. When the powerup wears off, it removes the dummy items and starts again when it hits a new wall.

SRB2 is REALLY heavily modified from Doom Legacy for all the custom shit it does, so it would have to be completely rewritten to work with ZDoom. This should have been done a long time ago, but the devs are autists with a pathological hatred of C++ and the rest of the Doom community, to the point of having their own incompatible ripoff of DeHackEd and recently adding fucking Lua to their engine instead of doing the sane thing and standardizing on the same DECORATE/ACS combo everyone else uses.

Animations are a funny thing.

For me, shotguns are the coolest kinds of weapons, because it's not just fire and forget. You fire, the gun recoils back, you pump it, and set it back into place. Several distinct stages of animation.
Of course, actually animating this is difficult. There's a whole lot of sprites that it requires, and the more intricate you want then it's going to need even more sprites.

Except when it comes to melee weapons.

I'm not going to downgrade the .NET framework I use and sacrifice features I need to use. For example, Octokit doesn't work on older versions, which is necessary for the git handling. The mod itself uses feature that only the latest versions of GZDoom have. All things considered, you need to have a pretty bad toaster to not even be able to run the SVN GZDoom. Sure some features like shaders may not work but at least it's playable.

This reminds me of how people ask me to support Zandronum and I just keel over in pain at the thought of what it would take to make that even happen.

You don't even need to use the launcher anyway, you can just as easily use a batch file if you can't use the launcher. It's just a convenience for users who don't know what they're doing.

So I just played Sapphire, it was an awesome map, go play it.

Some kind of goddamn agitating skellington ran up to me and tried to clock me in the nose as I peeked around a corner, but I taught him a lesson in mass and velocity. Music was real kickass.

Super Mastermind was pretty rough though, I think the double chainguns hurt more than the BFG itself.

I think I solved the boomerang game crash issue, I gave the projectile a bounce limit of 4, extended its lifespan, and made the death state spawn a noclip returning boomerang. Now if you get it trapped against something where it bounces a lot it should "break" and fly back to you

I am trying to raise the ceiling for the sector to match it's neighbors, but whenever I try to do that it raises the wall too and I end up with a transparent wall. Well, for Gameplay mods, Brutal Doom SE, Project MSX and Accessories to Murder are all worth checking out. MSX is my favourite, can be pretty hard with some wads though.
For mapsets, Scythe 1 and 2 are nice. Back to Saturn X is great (goes well with MSX too), Deus Vult 2 is an absolute classic, with great architecture, maps, music, and gameplay.

E4M1 has a rocket launcher near the start.
There's a teleporter that takes you to some extra HP and shells too.

E4M2 has a secret near it's teleporter behind a Baron of Hell.
That has a Berserk pack and leads to another secret that has the BFG9000.

There's a skip you can do but I'm not telling right now.

These levels are much more manageable when you find secrets.

E4M1 is rough, but it's at least manageable. If it had some more medikits, and perhaps a couple more magazines, a pair of shell-boxes, it would be alright. Can't remember if there was armor or not.

E4M2 doesn't give you ANY cover, and it's hard to move around because platforms are surrounded by a big bullshit pit of lava death, and there's like one radsuit so enjoy it while it lasts! And then if the cyberdemon spots you he's gonna try and take potshots at you, but not before you try to desperately stay on a wooden platform the size of my living room, fighting a bunch of caco bastards with inadequate sources of ammunition, hoping to god you don't fall down in the goddamn lava again.

Go ahead pleb. Most wads are meant to be played on UV, as was Thy Flesh. The original three were supposed to be played on HMP since it was the mid level, but by the time Doom II came out it was clear that HMP was not challenging enough as a standard. While pistol start is much better for HMP, it can still be done on UV and that's a large part of the challenge.

There aren't any medkits on UV bro. And as long as you can beat the first part of M2, it's all down hill from there.

Would be nice if the rifle had two frames for the muzzle-flash or something, 1 tic each, and then a one tic frame after, I feel flashes animate better that way. See attached .gif, like pulsating, looks really dynamic (though it wouldn't necessarily need to be as fast).

Also, assault rifles tend to be able to fire full-auto or in bursts, and are chambered for a medium rifle bullet, so they should hurt pretty good (but not so good that it would trivialize stronger enemies).

Anyway, shit looks REALLY cool, and I'm glad I stayed awake to see this get posted, I'm hype as shit right now.

DemonSteele, an experimental mod taking after 80s animu and 90s metal, trying to see if I can make meleeing fun.
Short of the matter is that primary fire is always cutting things up, secondary fire is swappable weapons. The more hits in a row you land, the higher your melee damage, and landing hits builds up a super meter for special moves.

It's extremely early alpha and pretty much everything graphically is a placeholder, but people seem to enjoy it so far for some reason.

Use charge grenades a lot, and keep moving your ass. It's usually better to fall and back and bottleneck bigger crowds of enemies.

you get a damage reduction bonus when your fist is fully charged, this works pretty well against crowds of CERTAIN enemies as the explosion from that punch wrecks shit.

Your assault rifle's got a scope, shoot humans from a distance.

"Hard" is actually UV spawns - the higher difficulties just multiply enemy health even higher.

The first level of charge for a grenade won't explode on impact.
The fully-charged fist will throw you to the ground if you use it in midair, so stick to lower charge levels for cacodemons and pain elementals.
Don't be afraid to use the autocannon - it's got the relative power of the Doom rocket launcher, only it fires much faster, has faster projectiles, and is less risky for the user. You can fire single shots with it, but your click has to be very short. Also, despite the crosshair, it's actually perfectly accurate. Spam away!
What the autoshotgun lacks in firepower it makes up for with its stunlocking ability. Use it against anything with a high painchance for great success.
When your fist or grenade is fully charged, if you use a shield booster or pick up an overshield sphere or a megasphere, you'll be able to hold the charge without being vulnerable to attack.
If you time it right, you can perform a second jump in mid-air after doing a high jump. Useful for those times where a high jump just isn't quite high enough.

Nuts.wad has crap performance in G/ZDoom because the monsters aren't hardcoded. PrBoom+ runs it without breaking a sweat.

It has a similar HUD and a similar way of taking damage, but the speed and base difficulty, as well as some of the things you can do (I.e. supercharging your fist using suit power) makes it rather different overall.

I once saw an invasion megawad (I think it was Armageddon Invasion) with a pretty awesome final boss. It attacked using a railgun shot out a huge projectile, homing plasma blasts that traveled along the ground, and a triple plasma rifle. You were given a railgun to fight it with. I think it was called "Juggernaut" or something along those lines.
