Let's talk about retro intros and endings.

My favorite part about Gran Turismo 2 has always been the (NTSC) intro. It's an awesome song and the visuals are great.

The reason I love Megaman X so much is due to its ending. It's immediately apparent that it's darker in tone than the previous series but it' still played straight as a fun platforming game with a killer rock soundtrack. You beat Sigma and you watch the stereotypical ending scene of the big bad's base exploding while you watch from afar. Then dat' text crawl. It tells you war is hell and you're probably an awful person for all the murder you've committed. The sacrifices are permanent and only the gun on your hand knows how long you'll keep fighting for. All the while that enchantingly sad music plays.

It's one of the best endings to a game I've ever witnessed.

The beginning to System Shock 1 is great and memorable, but the bad ending really stuck out at me. It was just so...creepy. Shit makes my skin crawl even now.

Sonic CD is my favorite intro.
I also like the intro to Guardian Heroes.

Only a handful of endings I appreciate... Maybe Mega Man 3's?
