I really want to like this game. But fucking hell, it is way too hard. Even after beating the game, I still struggle with the first world. You have very little health, no upgrades, and those fucking shitty snakes falling all over the place. I breezed through world 2 and 3 with minimal difficulty, but world 1 is just crazy.

Does the sequel for the game boy tone down the difficulty a bit?

Game Boy game is a bit easier. Also, you will have to grind a lot for money, so get used to it.

Is there any difference between the NES and Famicom versions?

Would it be worthwhile to grind in fortresses? Enemies respawn, and it seems like you can constantly re-enter the shop. So I could totally stock up and feathers and whatnot.

Although, once I get past 1-3, I don't have many problems until the very last world.

Also, fuck those enemies that steal your weapons. That is some bullshit right there.

The FDS had a few more sound channels than the NES or Famicom, and some songs in Kid Icarus utilized them. Compare. This is also observable in the title and ending theme of Metroid, composed by the same guy as Kid Icarus.

Also you could use the microphone on the famicom to haggle the shopkeeper, right?
In the nes version you just press B on the second controller.

The enemies hit too hard in the later fortresses. The first two are great, find a spot next to the hot spring and farm the full heart swarm rooms.

Yeah, you had to say some Japanese phrase into the second controller's mic.

None of that changes the gameplay though.

I was thinking maybe one version might be harder than the other or something.

>> No.1806208

You could always play the 3D Classics version on 3DS, it's a lot easier because it autosaves between levels, still the levels themselves are hard of course.

I find the FDS one to be unpleasant to listen to. I don't like it as much as the NES one.

KI is odd, in that it starts hard but gets easier. Is there another game that's like that?
