Time once again for retro games with awful music.

Post games that are agonizing to the ear.

Doom is good.
Doom on the 32X was bad. Like, just below nails on a chalkboard.

The 3DO port is the only console port of DOOM that I think sounds good. Too bad that's the only good thing about that port.

I really don't like the music in SNES Doom. It sounds like they're trying to play guitar parts with horns. It just doesn't sound right.

Someone needs to re-arrange this and make it actually good. Yes I'm aware it's a 3D Blast song, but this one is arranged to sound a bit more like a town theme.

Usually when I think of western games I think they all used the GEMS sound driver.
Tallarico was the only one who made GEMS sound good.

This game would have sounded so much better on the Genesis. The SNES makes it sound like all those sweet riffs are coming from a fucking tin can. It's a real shame.

It still sounds alright..but it sounds like it was supposed to be composed on another system.

See, this one actually could work in the game. With this one, all they did was change the FM instruments. The other version relies heavily on PWM audio, which wouldn't be as easy to implement (if at all possible) as the PWM is reserved for all the voice samples.

The reason 32x doom sounds crap is because the team who ported it just drag'n'dropped the Doom midis into the Megadrive devkit, with the default instrument preset for music. Tweak the instruments, like on this track, and it sounds ten times better.
