I heard that the Jaguar processors had to be used for music ended up being sacrificed to make games like Doom and Aliens vs. Predator run smoothly. It was an either-or situation, since those games were so graphically demanding.

If Doom had been a CD game, they probably would have just put all the songs on the disc as .wav files. It's both a blessing and a curse that Doom was not a CD game, because on the one hand, a CD version would have been better, but on the other hand, it would be nigh impossible to play these days without emptying your savings account for a Jaguar and CD attachment.

Well-intentioned shitposting is still shitposting. The Jaguar isn't a controversial system , where it's pros and cons can be weighted in different measure depending on one's own perspective. No shit it's shitty. Everyone fucking knows! That's just a useless comment.

But it doesn't mean the half-dozen games someone might own for it are shitty, it doesn't mean the CD visualizer is shitty, it doesn't mean the aesthetic is shitty, it doesn't mean if you saw one in a flea market for $20 you wouldn't buy it. This isn't 1994, no one is rooting for it to come out on top of the 3DO. It's a niche interest piece..

I mean if someone is a fan of that highly distinctive mid-nineties gritty look of early 3D, low-poly, 16-bit dithered color, pre-rendered, raytraced, unfiltered texture mapped graphics, the system is already worth owning at a certain price.
