best 'modern' handheld and flashcarts to emulate retro console games on the go?

i want to play the nes and snes smt, dragon quest, and phantasy star games.

i have a 2001 hacked psp, cant remember firmware, but havent looked into the emulators on it at all or updated it since 2012.

i also have a Supercard DSTWO, a dsixl and 3ds xl, 3ds, ds and ds.

i also have a gba sp ags-101, but my flashcart died and never got a new one after the supercard, but i remember gba flashcart nes/snes emulation being pretty good and looking nice on my SP? should i rebuy a gba flashcart or use my ds/psp?

i have a vita and iphone as well, and a laptop, but would prefer to emulate these old nes/snes games on a handheld with a d pad.

what emulates best? thanks /vr/

I think you can get one of these cheap nowadays.

Or just get one of those chinese JXD stuff. Better, cheaper.

>not a pspgo instead with 16 gigs built in and the ability to put it in a dock that hooks up to your tv and use a ps3 controller.

PSP can do NES and Genesis pretty well, but for SNES emulation you'll need something else. An Xperia Play is a pretty good choice if you can find one for cheap, as are any of the newer JXD handhelds.

How is the Xperia Play's performance? Will it do better than the PSP?

PSP and GBA you say.

Literally the worst combat I've ever seen in an RPG, incredibly shallow characters, and mediocre storyline. And goddamn if every little mechanic wasn't intentionally implemented in the clunkiest way possible.

Earlier DQ games are pretty fun, though.

It's great and battery life is pretty good if you keep it on airplane mode.
They also sell extended batteries for it so it could last up to several hours. Playing Ps1 games doesn't kill the battery too much.
Pic related I took this pic right now of me playing DQ3.

Buy an hdmi out cable for it and buy a bluetooth controller for multiplayer or comfy couch play. If you leave your phone on the charger while doing that it's a great experience.

horrible build quality and support
GPD is WAY better, AND cheaper

I was looking into one of those, does anybody know of a cheap place to buy them?

Depending on where you live, you may or may not be able to get one for dirt cheap on Craigslist.

Awesome, thanks!

I have a few questions though, I've seen some videos in which people were able to emulate Dreamcast games with it, can it really handle Dreamcast emulators? I just want to make sure, because the Dreamcast is one of my favorite consoles and being able to play it on the go would be awesome.

Other than the Dreamcast, how do other emulators work on it? (NES, SNES, Genesis, Master System/Game Gear, N64, etc.)

Dreamcast emulators are still in development for android, of course they aren't going to work.

I've played VI, the DS Port for what it's worth, and the game is fucking fantastic. It is the anti-modern JRPG. No gimmicks or tricks or crap like that, it's a pure RPG through and through and if you just want a straightfoward pure RPG that keeps shit happening all the time, it's for you. It's also fantastic for exploring, since every village or settlement you come to basically has it's own 1-2 hour questline and then you're done and you move forward. No running around aimlessly or backtracking or stupid shit like that.
