Just wanted to let /vr/ know that GOG just started their Linux support: http://www.gog.com/news/gogcom_now_supports_linux

Not much in the retro yet even though you can play a lot on Linux beforehand, but there are a few.

>no RCT build for Mac or Linux OOTB yet
>nothing D&D yet
There's still time though, and it's not like most of the retro isn't easily played through various means.

If it's anything like the Mac releases, they'll churn them out slowly. There's still hope for games like D&D and Unreal yet. Hell, mac didn't get all the D&D until really recently.

Still, either way
>no Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics

Tribes 2 has been free for the longest time.

Now if it's working on Linux, I have no idea. Try Tribesnext

PlayOnLinux scripts even net you the HD version.

>> No.1801182

>Final Fantasy IX

Oh, you fucker. I was expecting something crazy like Final Fantasy IX being ported for PC and available on GOG or some shit.

>> No.1801185

>>1801124
i list those games because they've all had official linux ports and can be run still today. if they can't even get those going then wtf

>> No.1801184

Desktop client when?

>>1801040
how much do the original developers benefit from these sales

>> No.1801197

I'm pretty sure every one of those first time on linux games are using dosbox

>> No.1801215

>>1801182
I wish Square would put the PC ports on GOG, but they love DRM too much on those. It would probably be on Steam.

>>1801197
It's not that surprising to tell you the truth, it's not terribly hard to retool their DOSBox versions out to a new platform. I heard they hired people specifically for this though, so expect at least some games with Wine at least because they use it on Mac a lot.

>>1801185
Some ports believe it or not are hard to get around the licensing due to being ported by a different team, some ports aren't on Steam for that reason.

>> No.1803004

>GOG just started Linux support

But DOSBox has worked on Linux for years.

>> No.1803064

>>1801124
>no Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics
They did have those since day one, but Bethesda had them taken down last Xmas.
To go down kicking, GOG gave them away free to everybody for a few days.

>> No.1803090

Highly unlikely that any of the Loki games are ever gonna be released on GOG.com, they're instead gonna just stick the Windows versions in a tar file with wine.

>> No.1804143

>>1803064
You will never see a Linux port outside of doing it yourself though. I honestly doubt they'll reappear on GOG myself, but anything can happen.

>> No.1804180

>>1801184
I don't know why you would want something like that in my opinion, but they're working on it still.

One reason why I buy GOG so much is that I don't need to use any client, but that's really just me.

A little offtopic, but did anyone catch the telltale sale going on? Fuck year, I missed all the times they were on the Summer deal.
