Between Gouken, Oro, and Gen, the SF series has a number of characters that continue to throw down as old men.

Man, "Old Ryu" would have been a neat character to see in a fighting game.

I'm glad someone else thinks so. I mentioned it on /v/ the other day and got blasted six ways from Sunday for having such a heathenous opinion. I'm sick of seeing the exact same Ryu in every game for 25 years.

I always wondered how Street Fighter would've been today if they had kept with the real time setting they planned when Street Fighter II and III were releasing instead of pulling the vague floating timeline thing they did with IV.

Medicine isn't a thing, but doctors are and they should decide. Hell they kind of already do, since if you're too poor you don't get any. I bet Ryu's pretty poor since he hasn't held down a job in 30 years.

Well, he seems to be about forty-years-old in SFIII.

The other thing to consider is that even at fifty he would likely be far more physically fit than Average Joes like you or me. Not only does he constantly train and exercise, he seems like the type to live a very healthy lifestyle. I doubt that he drinks and he probably has a dessert about once a year.

Add on wumbo-jumbo about ki and whatnot and Ryu's probably going to be kicking ass into his geriatric years with little change.
